I was thinking that. Other than being male vocals it hits that 90s alt rock w a gazy guitar layer request pretty spot on
It’s hard to find something that fits squarely within the Momma/Bully/Blondeshell thing right now, especially if you’re looking for women vocalists only. If you’re cool with losing the rock/solid walls of guitars element, then I’d also recommend checking out the After EP that Zac mentioned. There is a fair amount of stuff like that around if you wind up liking it (including the first Wishy EP, which you may like more than their full length) If you can lose the light/upbeat elements to settle on female fronted throwback rock music with shoegaze elements, I would recommend the Palomino Blond and Present records from last year Also will throw out Jay Som’s last LP, Anak Ko. It may venture into some territory that you’re not looking for exactly, but there are for sure some 90s pop/rock leanings in there, as well as a dash of Pinback flavor, who I feel is a clear influence on Momma that helps them stand out
Thank you so much for your service! I love an in-depth discourse when it comes to recommendations, I'll dive as soon as I can. First Alvvays record is a masterpiece. Never got into the Sundays as much as the only Sun Days album that came out 10 years ago.
Blue Rev kind of the template for dreamy/gazy guitars on pure pop rock songwriting, too. Most 2020s album of the 2020s so far (in a good way).
I forgot there was a band called The Sun Days, cool record but egregious name especially for a band playing that style
I finally found this record due to the mid-year lists, two thoughts - awesome, awesome summer record…and I Want You (Fever) is one of my favorite songs of the year
Listening to this now because of the deluxe version coming out today. Pretty good stuff imo imho imvho
Cross My Heart and Christian Brothers are good, the other acoustic tracks aren’t really doing it for me but cool to have these.
