Drive the Nail was my favorite, but everything sounded so consistent. This was just the first live-stream I saw, almost a year after the last show I saw. Halfway through I started to realize how much I miss live music.
I really don't care for the first two tracks, but the rest of the album is excellent. Midnight Flit is a journey, man.
Halfway through and Drive the Nail, Ceiling Granny, and Dry Fantasy are my favorites so far. The only one I’m not huge on yet is the second track.
This has such bite to it. Given their recent releases, I did not expect this to have much grit but maybe their recent soundtrack work has given them an outlet to write their more serene moments and allowed them to pursue a more aggressive direction. I hope shows come back soon because this deserves to be played live, especially given how loud they perform.
The live show from the Tramway in Glasgow was put back up last Thursday and is available to purchase and view until 1pm GMT this Thursday when it'll be taken off sale (ticket holders up to that point will have until midnight GMT Friday), might wanna get on that.
ceiling granny is the most fun i've ever had listening to a mogwai song album is great. my favorite of theirs in some time.
I haven't been able to get into a Mogwai release since the score for Les Revenants. I love everything before that, but nothing since has done much for me. I haven't listen to much post rock in general TBH. It's all I used to listen to when I was in my mid 20's and was even in a band that attempted to make post rock haha. Maybe that's why I stopped listening to it as much. Super happy that this album is top of the album charts in the UK, though. Dudes deserve all the success they get.
So they were at the Tramway in Glasgow again a couple of weeks ago for a KEXP session, plus there's an interview with Stuart!
