I think We Were Dead suffered for the same reasons Strangers does, it was just their weakest at the time (still a great record)
the songwriting on Strangers in general just felt weaker. not bad, but less compelling overall by a p significant margin. and that’s made even worse to me when considering that the album simultaneously feels waaaaay overworked/overcooked.
We Were Dead is my favorite MM album but that was my first album cycle as a fan as I started listening to them after they already released Good News.
I mean “Florida” ? come on. great song. imagine being 15 and growing up in Florida and hearing that song. too good
The second half of spitting venom is the best thing ever. Honestly we were dead might be my favorite right now.
We Were Dead rules. March Into the Sea, Parting of the Sensory, Little Motel and Spitting Venom are GOAT tracks. I still really like Strangers, too
We Were Dead is amazing and is easily the album most responsible for my taste in music evolving beyond AP.net scene artists.
