i love strangers to ourselves, more than we were dead actually, but i've really come around to that album finally after disliking it/not giving it a proper chance, for a long time. honestly my biggest gripe about STO, is that lampshades on fire is such a lame boring song and definitely shouldn't have been the lead single. in fact, the original version of the song that they played live, was much much better, so that song will always be a huge dud for me. song should have been cut and replaced with poison the well (which also had a slightly different version that was played live way back when). pups to dust should have been the lead single. that song is super underrated!
Correct, I should have said lead single (though that was inferred by the preceding chat but one should never assume). While I'm here Bankrupt on Selling is their best song. Okay maybe 3rd planet but it's really close.
yeah it blows my mind that "The Best Room" was never a single. wild still think "Spitting Venom" is their best
i would have loved a music video of "the best room" with some actual band performance. the guitar work on that song is awesome! so much missed opportunity! even wicked campaign would have been a better lead single than lampshades :/
I like Lampshades and can see why the released it was the lead single but there are better options for sure.
Lampshades was definitely the song that could go to radio and any fan would know "this is the new Modest Mouse" so I get it. I just think a lot of fans, myself include, thought "this is the new Modest Mouse, and it just copies ideas from old Modest Mouse??"
Ground walks Pups to dust Best room Tortoise and the tourist Coyotes Sugar boats Strangers to ourselves Lampshades Shit in your cut Ansel God is an Indian Of course we know Wicked campaign Be brave Pistol
The Lonesome Crowded West and The Moon & Antarctica are really hitting the spot with the general sense of existential dread I’ve been feeling
Hey y’all, I’m thinking about writing a The Moon & Antarctica retrospective piece this week. However, I need some extra inspiration to get me going. So, please pipe in with your personal stories with the album if you have them and feel comfortable sharing! Feel free to message privately.
