OK, looking forward to new MM but do not have high hopes. Strangers to Ourselves only had a handful of good songs. Not digging this first single, but still interested.

Holding off listening to single - I've been doing this for a couple years now w bands I really care about, idk something gets me about the first listen of a new album of all unheard songs. Glad to see some are digging it!

I haven't seen a press release anywhere else, but here's some extra info from my local record store:

"The album was produced with Dave Sardy and Jacknife Lee in Los Angeles and at Modest Mouse’s Portland studio. The new album follows 2015’s Strangers to Ourselves. the record is said to reflect “the liminal space between raw punk power and experimental studio science." The twelve tracks behave like amorphous organisms, undergoing dramatic mutations and mood swings that speak to the chronic tug-of-war between hope and despair that plays out in frontman [Isaac] Brock’s head."

ahhh that song is so good! i really needed some new modest mouse! can't believe they made us wait this long. hope this single does well, i think it's a lot better than lampshades.
