Very excited for what’s next. Weird to think it’s almost already been five years since The Golden Casket
Relisted to the previous single and it's not great but not as bad as I initially thought. Reminds me of No One's First and You're Next.
Modest Mouse is a fascinating band to me. Similar to MGMT they had a fluke hit (maybe 2 if I'm being generous) but are ultimately a skittish, quirky, off-putting band to a lot of people yet so many normies come to their shows and then can't understand the deal. Seeing them open for The Black Keys in 2019 was eye-opening as the crowd was mostly uninterested until "Float On" was played. As someone who appreciates bands who dare to be abrasive, I'm looking forward to this.
I got free tickets to see them open for the black keys. They didn’t even play float on it was funny. I left after their set.
"Float On" is a good song but maybe the most tired I am of any single by a band I love. Would rather listen to "Dashboard" every single time
This was a pretty legit setlist actually https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/modest-mouse/2019/ppg-paints-arena-pittsburgh-pa-4b9c57ea.html
Agreed. Float On is a great song and it very much deserves the success it got, but I don’t really need to hear it again lol
When I saw them last year, they opened with Float On which was nice because then the people who were only there to see Float On could float on home
One of the times I saw them within the last 5 years or so they played it like 2/3rds of the way through and I think a third of the crowd did leave. Wild to pay $60+ for a ticket to hear one song.
I saw them headline pre-COVID and Isaac tried to make some “If you have a Subaru Outback, I just want to announce that your lights are on” joke, but totally botched it and was like really mad at himself for doing that. Sadly, the best show I saw them was with Brand New. Audience was super hot, the set was perfect and MM killed it.
I’m definitely itching to see them live again. The last time I saw them was the LCW anniversary tour. I was actually at Jeremiah’s last show :(
