I know people love it, but I like a few parts of it more than I like the song as a whole (the verses kind of feel like they're still being worked out to me). It's definitely not bad, I just love the rest of the album more and think the strongest few songs on The Golden Casket are a little better.
After listening to them both today I’d easily take strangers over the golden casket. But even as my least favorite it’s still like a 7/10.
Sugar Boats is great and I remember seeing it live a few times and enjoying it even more. My favorite MM song live though is probably The Whale Song. What a jam!
Get your tomatoes out. My version of Strangers is just this EP length playlist: - Lampshades - Ansel - Ground Walks - Coyotes - Pups to Dust - Sugar Boats - Best Room
If I had to cut the record down to an EP length, those are probably the songs (I'd also include "Be Brave"). All bangers.
sugar boats is extremely not a song for me lmao, the tom waitsy songs usually dont do much for me but that one particularly gets on my nerves. if you swapped that for the title track i could mostly get behind that list though
I mean these are pretty much the best songs. I like a lot about Tortoise (it has a cool vibe and some nice hooks) but I agree with the sentiment it has an "unfinished" feel.
I often feel like the biggest (and sometimes only) fan of Pistol in the world. I love that song hahaha
I think "Pistol" got too much shit at the beginning and then a lot of people have realized that it's actually great in the time since.
I think about Isaac's warped voice saying "I was up all night, not ready for the meeting, oh noooo" more than I should lol. Wild song
Where do you guys rank Sharpen Your Teeth against the MM albums? Because I think it could be top three for me somedays. "Barnacles" is an incredible song.
sharpen your teeth is great, idk about where id rank it since i just heard it a few days ago but its got a lot of cool stuff going on
