Lyrics are one of the most important parts of music across the board

 

I’ll listen to an amazing instrumental with mediocre lyrics but I’ll rarely listen to incredible lyrics over bland music

 

I just don't listen to bad music, my problems are solved

 

Idk Isaac can write pretty great lyrics but a lot of Modest Mouse songs, especially earlier stuff, is made most interesting by the compositions not his words imo.

 

"We Are Between" is great and a better single than "Lampshades on Fire."

 

its at least better than leave a light on, which in thinking about it hard would be my pick for my least favorite modest mouse song. such a messy and clunky yet bland and boring song at the same time that i am genuinely so perplexed it made it past the finish line

 

i've never really minded wicked campaign. I think the opener/closer are snoozefests on that record though and I don't like Pistol (although I appreciate the swing lol) or Sugar Boats really

 

Sugar boats is my least favorite on that album

 

Wicked Campaign is silly fun, belting out the "OHH OHH OHHH THINGS ARE NOT SO BAD" always brightens my day up a little bit

 

"Sugar Boats" kicks ass

 

That’s why I love Sigur Ros so much

 

Sugar Boats is probably the best song on Strangers. I think only Ground Walks or Best Room are in competition.
