genuinely perplexes me so much that dance hall and devil's workday were album cuts and i've got it all most and history sticks to your feet weren't
been a long time since i sat through a full listen of we were dead. man that record aged incredibly well. that back half is nearly flawless imo.
I think the only song I don’t care for on there is “Fly Trapped In A Jar.” Just feels like more of a sketch than a complete song. Everything else is great.
Well I listened to We We Dead front to back today because of this thread and yeah it still rocks Almost forgot how epic Spitting Venom is Steam Engenius is also an underrated banger
the only song on WWD I can't get into at all is Education, just sounds like a bad Talking Heads song also love the History Sticks shoutout, that song is absolutely gorgeous. could listen to that guitar loop forever
Float On and Ocean Breathes Salty brought me to MM, Bukowski is what made me stay and 22yrs later they're still one of my favorite band of all time! I am also in the camp that Dance Hall is one of their worst songs. Anyway, came here to say "Picking Dragons Pockets" is a fantastic single! The lyrics are so good! The lyrics seem to be about this new age of rage-bait (Well they’ll go crazy if you don’t go crazy somehow) and lying biased news media (Facts aren’t facts on screens that glow) trying to divide us, and blocking all that out to think for yourself (I ain't your passenger now... I am the pilot). Also, the same s**t different politician with empty promises. (A pile of leaves in the wind. Fresh clothes on dirty skin. The means to meet no ends again.)
For me I am a "lyrics first" kind of listener and can't stand really repetitive songs, and 13 of the 20 lines are just "I'm gonna dance all ,dance hall every day." That's my personal reason for disliking it.
I simply think both lyrics and music on Dance Hall just absolutely stink lol anyway I'm drunk and World at Large is fuckin hitting hard tonight fellas
It’s a silly song that I always kind of considered as filler on the album. But it would be a lot of fun live.
I think "Wicked Campaign" is their worst song simply because of how glossy/generic it is and it's not particularly close. (In before the "Pistol" hate, that songs is also good)
wicked campaign is fine, if generic and glossy is the bar for bad modest mouse songs (and there are plenty plenty more things that can go wrong in a modest mouse song than that lmao) then it does not get worse than we are between also it is very funny seeing the lyrics vs music debate spark up because of dance hall of all songs lol
