Yeah, this one's much better after I couldn't stand the first two, but it's still not something I'll play a lot.
This album is their strongest as a whole. But YGMIA had a few great songs. Your Graduation is my favorite song by them, and so far nothing has topped it.
Jake's half is so good. Love it. Maybe nothing as good as Alpha Kappa but still strong. Note to Self is probably the best track here.
Got my vinyl today while I was at FYE and just played it and there was a super good bonus track on there. Anyone know what it's called? It's not listed anywhere on there haha
Were they associated with the JJR shit at all? I can't recall since I threw them in the pile with bands like TSSF and Turnover and stuff Anyway, I like this record. It's different than what I expected. It probably won't end up being a favorite of the year, but I could see myself returning to some songs if I'm in the mood for this style of music.
I don't really know how to find the pic but I'm p confident it was one of the members of this band. @US Camera might know better?
I'm not quite certain but I think I remember seeing a picture on twitter of Brendan with JJR around Thanksgiving.
Yeah Bren posted a pic w JJR. My understanding from other people is that JJR kind of forces his way into social situations and Bren couldn't really get out of it and was very upset about the whole thing I know/love/trust these people so I was very upset, but I know they know he's not a good person who they sometimes get roped into spending time with. Doesn't make it better but it is what it is
It's a long story, and I don't know if all the information we had on AP is compiled somewhere, but he's a prominent personality in the pop-punk scene who defended Harry Corrigan, an admitted sexual assaulter (and his cousin) and threatened other bands (specifically The Hotelier/Christian) and kids to keep it on the DL. Several bands (including The Wonder Years) have cut ties with him, others (Transit, Four Year Strong) haven't.
Oh also if it makes any difference JJR tweeted the picture of them together, not Bren. Bren seemed to really not be happy to spend time with him
I can't really know any of the details about it, but I do hope this is true (not because I want Brendan to have to deal with it obviously) and it would make me feel slightly better about it
It's my understanding that it is. On top of this I know a lot of the people who do DIY booking in Philly and they will completely stop booking bands if they pull some shit, and they are still 110% trusting of the guys
I like this - it's probably not as good as I expected it to be based on the hype, but a very solid album nonetheless and easily the best thing they've done. I think I need to listen to it a bit more to let the lyrics sink in, and there's a bit of with some of the songs which is an issue on such a short record. That said, these guys are deliberately sloppy and 'one-take' in their songwriting approach, and that's part of their charm.
