Hahaha oh boy. To Tyron's credit, he's beaten nearly all of the top guys in his weight class so he's at a good spot for the time being. I think Heavyweight, surprisingly, is the only weight class that isn't either jammed up or missing a clear next move.
It's an eye roll situation for me whenever Luke talks about the division. I think he's the best fighter in the division, but man, you're the reason this all happened in the first place.
GSP should be able to fight hopefully early next year. Him v Whittaker I am greatly looking forward to, and am more worried for GSP in that fight than I was with Bisping. The only thing really on my radar atm is Holm v Cyborg, which is potentially the greatest women's MMA match ever.
Ariel Helwani basically said that to his face as he was ranting. It was pretty hilarious. He didn't have much of a response.
Especially since he's basically shouting into the void at this point. No great amount of fans are clamoring for him to be in a title fight. I'm sure he's pissed off uncle Dana with his contract tiff a while back. Man, you're just going to have to wait for the division to shake out a bit, preaching to the choir is hardly advancing your cause. And I like him as a fighter haha.
Exactly, I respect him, and I guess I sympathize with these guys when some champs get to call their shots and hold up the division...but you have to actually fight and make people excited to see you get back in that title picture. Otherwise you're going to be sitting and complaining for a while. Haha.
That would be a great fight, pretty evenly matched. However, is this for the interim title? Feel like Whittaker earned a shot at GSP first thing when he’s back. I like Rockhold a lot, but credit due where its due.
Hopefully Bisping doesn’t even go the retirement fight route. Or at least fights somebody who’s an easy win for him. That Gastelum KO doesn’t get any easier on the eyes with time.
I like it. With respect to everyone, I always felt that the MW division had two separate belt lines (instead of one real champ + one interim, if that makes sense). Bisping legitimately earned the belt by beating the champion, but Whittaker has been the one consistently fighting the ACTUAL top guys. Now that controversy and muddied is sort of gone.
I'm fine with this. When you boil it down, Bisping (legitimate champ) challenged Georges to a fight, he accepted, and won. I'm taking GSP at his word and his medical condition is going to sideline him for a while, so give up the belt and keep things moving. Luke can stop complaining, Whittaker gets his shot and GSP (while doubtful) can always come back to middleweight if he wants.
Yeah, no reason not to believe GSP, really. If his got really sick, then trying to either retain that muscle he put on or cut back down to 170 would be pretty tough on his body.
Just grabbed my ticket for the fight night card in St Louis next month. Only $125 for a floor seat. No way I'm passing that up. It's worth it just to be down there with all of the pros/famous people.
Curious to see If PVZ goes Rhonda and freezes up/gets obliterated. Also, who is the no. 1 contender for Rose's belt? Tecia Torres? She has wins on Waterson, Namajunas, and VanZant.
I have no idea what to make of this card. Lawler/RDA could go either way. A Perry win would open a whole lot of opportunities. Cirkunov getting a win would be useful as well.
Super happy for RDA. My prediction I posted on Reddit: "Love Lawler but I would favor him more in a three rounder. RDA just keeps coming while Lawler likes to take rounds off if he thinks he can afford it on the score cards. I see RDA being slightly more active each round and also utilizing those leg kicks considering how flat footed Robbie tends to get."
