That was a very nostalgic Ronda win lmao. Not sure what people expected tbh. This would’ve been the same outcome 10+ years ago too. Perry is Perry. He’s done very well for himself post UFC between BKFC and now this. Not sure how frequently (if anymore at all) they plan on doing MMA cards but Francis vs Despaigne could be alright.
My uncle and I were talking about the pacing of the event and how much they were padding the downtime because so many fights were mismatches. I told him before the Ronda fight that it would be the quickest of all so they had to stall. I knew it would be a vintage performance. Literally a second off.
I do wish we could get a new legitimate competitor to the UFC, but with the way Bellator folded and the PFL has squandered any talent they've acquired, I don't really foresee anyone else doing much of note. Bellator had a really long run with some decent fighters who came and went out of there, but man, Strikeforce was the best so I'll always respect Scott Coker for that. Some of my favorite memories in MMA came from that org.
Slept through and then forgot about the card this morning and barely caught the end of the main event. Im really happy Song was able to get that win. Plus, China was 0-5-1 on that card up until that point lol And the rest of the Asian fighters were 2-2 (Japan providing both wins).
I read they're also worried about bugs being a major problem. Bugs in a coastal swamp in mid June... who'da thunk it.
