I can’t wait for the current Aussie deal to end. Hate that it’s still PPV here and that I have to go to the pub. The pub that I’m (that shows all PPVs) can’t even work out how to put it on and just restarted the fucking prelims.
Card is definitely underwhelming for all of the hype. It’s an above average PPV card but the Miami card is honestly more exciting.
Getting Ilia and Alex on the same card is pretty nuts but outside of that, it’s pretty random. If O’Malley isn’t fighting for the title, why isn’t he fighting Sandhagen? It should also be Bo v Colby
dude exactly what I was thinking. I would like to see some rules that limit grappling tbh. It’s great in short spurts but matches being on the ground for 80% of the time just isn’t fun for the vast majority of fans
Meh it was only boring because Max was good at defending submissions but not much else. Charles literally has the record for most finishes in the UFC so I think I can forgive him for not getting this one because he was clearly trying lol
high level BJJ is a joy to watch but I definitely get the sentiment when it comes to the “BMF” belt caught some of the post fight presser this morning and Dana is back on his “we never negotiated with Jon for the Alex fight. He’s retired” shtick for what it’s worth, Ariel said Jon wanted 15 million for the fight and they wouldn’t get to that number so they called Gane
Side note to all of this, why did they ever decide that the BMF belt needed to be lineal anyway? It should 100% be a specialty trophy fight. Like a one-time award you get but are maybe eligible for multiple times. More than anything, that belt is stuck at Lightweight and Welterweight which is a bummer. That’s part of the reason Charles even got that fight anyway because they couldn’t keep cycling Gaethje and Poirier but had to find someone for Max, specifically. They absolutely should have let someone like Jiri and Khalil fight for it for an extra payday. Second though, it already defeats the purpose of being lineal (with no other stipulations like weight class) when Ilia KOed Max but didn’t get it. All this to say, if you make it non-lineal, you can give the BMF fights to literally anyone without stripping the previous winner. Now you have to find someone BMF worthy for Charles.

I still wondered what the fight was, specifically, that fell through the day before they announced the White House card. It sounds like it was Ilia vs. Islam, according to Ilia. He said he had agreed to the fight on Friday and then on Saturday, he found out that Islam was out and Justin was in. The card is good but was clearly cobbled together. Bo Nickal vs. Kyle Daukaus sounded like it was originally supposed to have Colby in it, and O'Malley vs. Zahabi is also a strange one that seemed like it could have originally been something else as well.... Now you add in Jones getting passed over and potentially even Conor vs. Carlos Prates getting scrapped from that card (or maybe another).... It's a mess.
I'll never forgive them for not calling it the Superfight Championship and putting this bad boy back in rotation.
If they actually did this, it would have made 1000x more sense when Mark Coleman was the one who wrapped the BMF belt around Max that time. Dude was the one who unified the Superfight Belt and Heavyweight Belt!

Unless you count Perry's boxing resume, Ngannou is somehow the most recently active MMA fighter on that card out of the main six, having fought about a year and a half ago. Lins will be 2 years off, Nate is 3.5, Perry is 4.5, Rousey 9.5, and Gina is.... I lost track. 16.5 years? But that said... the name value alone has me intrigued.

That was a dog shit card outside of a few fights. Have zero idea how Evolev won 4 rounds. That is a draw at the very least. Give Silva the title shot after that fight.
