I really think Merab can be caught (kinda like how he was against Cejudo and Moraes) so he’s not invincible…but I don’t know man, this guy seems to get better and better as time goes by. I would love it (for the sake of opening up the division) if Petr could catch him with a strike but a five round domination is the obvious bet.
I knew Merab was more hittable than people seemed to acknowledge and Petr was a good person to put that to the test, but wow, I never would have guessed he could nearly outpace him and completely shut down his wrestling. That was a masterclass against an unbeatable dude.
Bravo Petr Yan. Fight of his life. Didn’t think anyone could stuff Merab’s takedowns for five round like that.
That's wild. I mean its on a technicality with Alex, Islam, Ilia, Alex, and Petr being former champions.
The no defenses thing is wild but it’s more a testament that each division has been going through different circumstances. Heavyweight being stalled out and then ending in an eye poke, freak injury at Flyweight, Alex and Petr getting their belts back, two divisions had their champ vacate and grab the belt at the weight class above. So three belts were obtained after the former champ vacated. Khamzat fights pretty infrequently so him getting the belt means 0 defenses for quite a while. All of these divisions are just in weird places, but it just goes to show how unpredictable this sport is.
Royval/Kape should be a banger. We get a 6 week break after tonight. Can’t remember the last time UFC had a gap that large between events lol
$60 for the year instead of $80 for a PPV on ESPN... That's how you convince cheap asses like me to pay instead of using Streameast
Is it bad that on the last PPV I started get a little sentimental that that would be the last time (for now) that I have to fight with an ad-filled bootleg stream that freezes every few minutes? haha I've only been doing it for 15 years now.
