Totally forgot that the Contenders Series is back tonight. Glad to have something to watch during the week again.
I was supposed to see Friendship on Tuesday, got flaked and rescheduled for today. Flaked again! Still going as its last screening then sprinting to the sports bar to try and catch the main
Great card so far. MVP looked like the version of himself that we’ve been wanting to see in the UFC (aside from that slip). I’m also happy that dude from the Contenders Series delivered. Fought Tuesday, Dana credited him with saving the card, then he gets a great finish four days later on a real card after dealing with some adversity in the first round.
Two spinning elbow KOs, both guys got a bonus, and both begged Dana to let their teammates get a shot. This is wild lol. Pico was looking good but got a little too aggressive. I’ll be excited to see him back.
I’m thinking DDP will survive the early onslaught and win a decision. I don’t know if Khamzat can fight all 5 rounds but it’s just a matter of whether or not he needs it. Also wild to me that he’s just now getting a title shot. I would have thought when he took 1 strike in three fights (in a two month span) that he would have been fighting for a title back in like 2022.
Well a decision is out of the question. Ha. DDP hasn’t made Khamzat work literally at all so he’s not needed to slow down in the slightest.
Khamzat fights too infrequently to be a good champion. His fighting style in this fight doesn’t bode well for being a “good” champion either. I really don’t know who he fights next. I don’t think Imavov or de Ridder have anything for him
As a fighter, good on him at mastering a skill to neutralize almost any fighter. But as a fan of exciting MMA, that def wasn't it
this Hokit guy on the CS didn’t look terrible but 229 seems way too light for today’s heavyweights lol he was a little one dimensional too okay he’s a bit of a tool too lol
I love when the UFC is in China. You wake up at 6:30 AM, grab some coffee and watch the co-main event.
