The fight probably could have gone on, but even if you stop the action to take a point, you're still sort of setting a bad precedent. They don't want to encourage people to commit fouls and think "Eh, I'll take a point deduction if I can stay in the fight".

I was so stunned by Tex being dropped by the left that I completely missed him using the cage to get back up lol. Makes a lot more sense after watching it back.
