I definitely don't think that way and would like to see him back in an octagon asap. But yeah, Rhonda's fans swayed faster than she hit the mat. Same for Aldo fans.
Conor handled his loss way better than Rhonda did. Basically said he got beat and came back as soon as he could. Rhonda taking her ball and going home until her next fight was just such a bad look. Aldo was never built for casual fans. Conor also sets himself up so tremendously well. The loss to Diaz was two weight classes above his (at the time) normal weight class. The genius of McGregor, after the Aldo win, is that he always has something to fall back on. Lose to Diaz at welterweight, so what, go back to lightweight. Lose at lightweight, there's always featherweight. Lose to Mayweather, there's always MMA to return to. Rinse and repeat. The stakes are high, but never enough to cripple his brand. That said, I wouldn't shed a tear for Mayweather if he gets knocked out, but I don't see it happening.
198(?) in Brazil and 200 both look absolutely loaded. I still won't buy them, I'll never do that again after wasting my money on Rashad Evans v. Bones, but I'll go somewhere that's showing them
Bummed I'm missing Bellator tonight. I have to be a judge at an amateur MMA and kickboxing card tonight.
Except Rory...that one will bite him for a while, IMO. Luckily, that division is pretty stacked in the UFC.
I'm such a god damn idiot....told myself I was NOT going to buy this tonight and I bought it at 6:55 PST and boy, I regretted it almost immediately.
I'm a sucker for this stupid shit....and then I watch Chael cut a stupid promo to fight Fedor? Come on.
I’m sure it was better than the card tonight Yeah, everytime you think they’re getting somewhat remotely close to the UFC, something like that happens Wonder how many buys it’ll do though
Some fighters look like they are starting to decline (like Fedor and to a lesser extent, Anderson) which is natural... but BJ looks like he forgot how to fight altogether. I don't even understand how he's been in the gym for any amount of time and looks like that.
I'm usually sympathetic towards the referees because of how tough the job is, but that was pretty poor officiating there, in my opinion. There's a lot of times you can make a case for "better be safe than to let it go on too long", but a rear naked choke is probably one of the easier scenarios. Chiesa was even facing the ref which is the ideal position to see if he went out! It's easy to say "he was going out anyway", but in my opinion, that is so unfair. To tell a guy who just trained for months that he was "going to lose anyway" and rob him of the opportunity to escape and potentially earn thousands more dollars is absurd when the damage he could have sustained was minimal anyways. Especially when Mario didn't even verbally or physically check with Chiesa before jumping in.
