Yeah this is pretty awful. Don’t know how Craig didn’t get DQ’ed when he obviously knocked the dude out with an illegal kick. Don’t give a shit if it’s an accident, if you break the rules resulting in a fight ending injury then you should lose the fight.
I’m not surprised mother fucker UFC champ Jon Jones retires, hit with another criminal charge in Albuquerque
I absolutely love that they held off on making it public until the day his retirement is announced. Just completely overshadowed any celebration of his career by putting all of the focus on his shithead behavior lol
UFC 317 fighter cut for being 10 pounds over weight, bout cancelled It irritates me how they say they "cut" this guy because he missed the contracted weight by 10 lbs.... The UFC is notorious for being vindictive towards any prospective fighters who turn down opportunities. These guys are scared to say no even if they aren't ready or aren't healthy because the UFC will say "okay, we'll never ask you again". If they would be more accommodating to new signees instead of basically putting everyone on permanent standby to MAYBE get thrown a two-day notice fight, stuff like this wouldn't happen. I follow a guy who used to fight locally. He won a fight on the Contender Series but didn't get a contract. He's said that the UFC has called him about 8 times to ask him if he's down to fight, he says yes, and then they go with someone else. The expectation is that you're supposed to stay fight-ready, indefinitely, and take any opportunity they MIGHT give you....because if you say "no, I'm hurt right now", they'll send your name to the back of the list.
Fuckkkk that follow up shot wad BAD. That's not on Herb at all. He was still out. He did not need Herb to pull him away to know the fight was over.
Woof, that was rough. Islam’s got to drop back down after that result. Talk about a massive potential fight with Ilia.
A+ card last night. Ilia is amazing, as is Pantoja. Van vs. Royval is already FOTY but with the added context of Van taking four fights in six months, this one on a weeks notice…. Incredible. I was so amped at the end when they showed Justin, Paddy, and Arman waiting. Islam was a bad stylistic matchup for too many people, but things are way more interesting stylistically now IMO.
I think it was just a tough call. Teixeira committed a pretty blatant foul to get out of the situation. He basically climbed the fence with both hands which is the only reason he got back to his feet. The fight probably could have gone on, but even if you stop the action to take a point, you're still sort of setting a bad precedent. They don't want to encourage people to commit fouls and think "Eh, I'll take a point deduction if I can stay in the fight".
