Nice knockdown. Not wild about the stoppage.

Wow. Max just whooped some ass. That is one bad dude.

I was worried for him there for a second. He looked a little lost out there for about a round and a half, but I think once he felt Aldo start to slip, he pounced on him.

As much as I love Aldo, I'm glad to see this division move on. Conor vacating and Aldo reclaiming the title kind of left it in shambles. There was always a feeling of illegitimacy to it. I know Max lost to Conor once already, but it's been so long ago now that this feels so much different.

  4. Max is still only 25 which is crazy. Frankie/Max should be nice if they go that way.

On a side note, does Aldo retire? I mean he could try 155 but he looked kinda gassed in the 2nd, plus all the killers in that division.

Side, side note, JJ and Claudia are so much better than the other strawweights.

Can't really say I wanna see Aldo be done, he's still pretty young and still a good fighter. Max just studied him and picked his shots really well. If Aldo gets some wins in a row, and the title changed hands, im all for seeing him come back.

Yeah, it seemed like Aldo had gone downhill at first but then I really thought about it... He looked like a killer in the first and second rounds. He's still as sharp and fast as ever. He pretty much did what he always did which was slow down around the third round.

I think he just ran into someone that had the right combination of skills, frame, and strategy. I mean, in Aldo's last fight, he dominated Frankie Edgar. Literally no one besides Aldo has done that to this day.

I really wonder what that fight looks like if Aldo throws a damn leg kick. Dude has killer leg kicks and he didn't throw a single one that I remember.

That was pretty puzzling. I can't pretend to know what his team's strategy was there, but it seemed like it would be obvious to use those since Max is so much taller.

Good for DJ although for my own selfish reason, I'm guessing this means that the rumored 215 in Seattle probably won't be happening because the only real reason they have to bring it back to Seattle is for a DJ fight.

Wow, good for DJ, it's inexplicable how UFC/Dana has been treating him. The fallout to this should be very interesting.

Damn, I don't even know what to say. I know the UFC treats people unfairly, but what the hell do you have to do to get some respect?

Luke brings up some good points, ridiculous though that UFC treats talent, champions more so, like this.

I'm getting flashbacks to Jones vs. Hendo here. Hendo pulled out and Jones refused to fight Sonnen, so they cancelled the whole event... Every fighter started talking all kinds of shit about Jones costing them money, but then Jon brought up a good point: "I'm not the one who didn't believe you were good enough to carry the card on your own..."

Dana/the UFC are good at diverting the blame, so it seems like they are already setting up DJ as a scapegoat if they were to fire all of the flyweights. I'm not sure how serious that threat really was, but it's pretty obvious they don't care about investing much into those guys.

It's moot, if the fighters aren't willing to band together and organize in some meaningful way, UFC will be able to carry on as they please.

That seems to be the running theme throughout every conflict the UFC's ever had, though. Doesn't mean the UFC isn't going to try to convince everyone that it's someone else's fault.

It's always these cards that sneak up on you that end up being the burners. Every fight on this main card has been bonkers. Going to be hard to narrow down performance bonuses tonight.

Aw man. Looks like Black Beast might be done fighting. He's one of the few guys left in the division that actually brings some interest.
