I still don’t like the guy and won’t believe he fights in MMA against real competition until I see it. Cherry picking retired MMA fighters to box, or guys naturally significant smaller in size (Diaz) is nothing to note. He’s so much more about the spectacle and attention rather than the sport itself. irt the Jake Paul PFL talk.
I don’t like Paul at all, but if it brings eyes and some defections to the PFL I’m all for it. More options for MMA fights is desperately needed and PFL’s PPV aspirations were pretty delusional before this signing.
Report: Ex-UFC champ Jose Aldo, wife involved in government handout scandal - Bloody Elbow Anyone have this on their 2023 MMA Bingo Card? The article is even more bizarre than the headline makes it sound.
Yep seems like his no compete clause started already so he’s got 90 days or so. I’d imagine they’ll book an interim HW title fight in the meantime.
I’m sure this has been answered elsewhere, but is Strickland the first person to ever headline back to back UFC’s? I know they’re a month apart but I still can’t think of an instance where that’s happened off the top of my head.
Listening to this Francis interview He was going to be paid around 8 million a fight to stay. But asked for sponsorships and health insurance for fighters and was told no so he walked. if that’s true, absolute fucking respect for that guy.
He’s one of the best outside of the sport. And I don’t think he needs to beat Jones to prove he’s one of the best. I couldn’t care less to even see Jones come back, and there isn’t anyone at Heavyweight that I think he can’t beat in at most 2 fights. I’ll be happy to watch him box Fury.
I wouldn't have to be talked into Ngannou/Fury, but as a boxing fan, Fury/Usyk needs to happen first. After that, let's get weird. Have Francis crush some can on the Fury/Usyk undercard to build hype. You could make an argument that Fury doesn't even need to beat Usyk to make a Francis fight compelling. Good on him for sticking to his principles. He had to have known that they'd never play ball on some of those, so hats off to him.
