It's obvious no one in that division can beat MM, so there is only so much he can do. Shit, I'd even like to see a rematch between he and Cruz.
Break the record, move up and fight Cruz. It's weird, I don't want to see him challenge for the bantamweight title, because I don't think he'd stick up there if he won. The rematch with Cruz would be real fun.
He tied Anderson's record this weekend, but I would like to seem him stay there. Just to be completely definitive, I think he needs two more defenses. Anderson's record did not count his fight against Lutter because Lutter had missed weight. Anderson still fought him and beat him, so it's technically 10 but should be 11. Also, where is he at regarding consecutive wins? I think he is tied with either Jon Jones or GSP while Anderson is at the top, but I could be wrong. It seems weird to think about, but neither Jones or St. Pierre are actually off of their winning streaks yet, so Mighty Mouse needs to make sure he racks up some more wins!
I know they've all improved in talent as time's gone by, but TJ has a loss to Dodson who MM has beaten twice. Not impossible to think he could hang with him.
So Dana White says that if Jon Jones is ready to fight by July 29, UFC 214, they will do DC v. Jones 2. Let's hope Jones can get it done. Though the lack of a "tune up" fight is interesting.
Could you imagine the shit storm of McGregor won? I like McGregor when he's in the octagon, and after the first, because he's actually humble and embraces the other fighter...but what he's given the chance to do by the UFC is fucking atrocious.
Ehh it doesn't bother me. He's the guy everyone will pay the most to see. He almost always lives up to the hype and performs well, and beyond expectations. He's dominated during his time in UFC. I think he gets the treatment he does because he's bold enough to go for it and he backs it up.
Oh man. I just saw a very clear vision of the future where Connor beats Woodley and then GSP beats Bisping and then Connor and GSP fight. That is how this happens, right? That is how the worst timeline works? If that does transpire, and Connor beats GSP, I imagine he just walks away. At that point, there just isn't anything else left.
I mean, is there really any other way to claim being the best other than defeating every other weight class champion? Certainly sucks for other great fighters waiting for the chances, but as said above McGregor is who everyone wants to see and delivers pretty much every time.
It's a literal different class of fighters. Conor may bulk up and give Woodley a run for his money, but if he slimmed down and faced the likes of Edgar, he would probably have issues. The constant - weight class, is thrown out the window.
I mean, just defend it once or twice in your weight class. He doesn't need to go on a Mighty Mouse run, but vacating a belt as soon as you win it doesn't do much for me.
I just wish it was McGregor-GSP at 170. That way, only the 155 division is being held up. Instead, the 170 and 185 divisions are gonna be on hold for super fights. That does kind of suck. But I won't lie, I will be watching, and probably having viewing parties.
*Puts tin foil hat on* Conor was offered GSP, he declined using Mayweather as an excuse. He's waiting to see what GSP looks like before committing to it. If Bisping tunes up GSP, Conor takes the fight.
Eh, I don't hate it or love it. At this point, I don't even really view Conor as a "champion". He's more of a prize fighter, I guess. He's done some incredible things, but he's also been given way more opportunities than anyone else (and rightly so). Just a single loss to Diaz kind of killed my excitement to see him any heavier than 155, but that might just be me. I don't like that he didn't defend the 145 belt and isn't even attempting to defend his current one, but at the same time, it is fun to see him jump around and fight in all of these super match ups. I just wish it didn't come with killing the excitement of Featherweight and holding up the likes of El Cuycuy, Khabib, Maia, etc. by chasing belts and not defending them.
