I am shocked at that O’Malley result. Not so much that the decision went his way after the fact but going into this fight I did not see how he could win outside of a very lucky strike. I’m shocked it was even close
I’m not insanely psyched on Khabib 2.0 as our lightweight champ but he won fair and square. Charles seemed a bit off and made multiple mistakes. Hope to see them run it back.
Lol seems like DC knew Islam was gonna say something dumb there and didn’t let him back on the mic hopefully they don’t make Charles win a gauntlet to get back
I feel like they will do Charles vs. Dariush which sucks for both of them. Haha. Volkanovski ruined any momentum for a title shot that Dariush would have gotten tonight.
That’s the fight I want to see. O’Malley should have one more test before a title shot. He looked good, but I thought Yan won. B
I’m a little surprised seeing how many people are SHOCKED that Charles got submitted. The guy is a buzzsaw offensively, but he is not the most defensively sound fighter. He’s been submitted by Lamas, Miller and Pettis. Of course his ground game is great, but it’s not the most shocking result.
I agree, I love Charles too, but I didn't think he'd have much of a chance. Kind of shocked so many people were riding with him. Aljo/Chito and Henry/Sean is what should happen, but they'll probably give Henry the shot.
That's honestly an interesting match up. Both are pretty great in the grappling department and have way different styles of standup. But yeah, not really sure what you do with everyone else. There are almost too many good matchups. It's crazy how 135 and 155 are pretty backed up right now, yet both divisions are inserting a person who is cutting the line. Meanwhile, 145 is at a standstill.
I think you do Sean/Chito 2 in the spring and let the winner get the next shot. Merab and Aljo won’t fight each other regardless.
Well, now it makes sense. Sean supposedly asked for another new deal after beating Yan (he just got one before the Pedro fight) and becoming the #1 ranked fighter at 135. So don’t expect Dana or the UFC to bend to that. As usual.
This dude sucks so much. Takes 2 friggin years to be difficult, make his already shit rep worse, hype up a weight move nobody cares about, and then last minute wants to hop on the final card of the year while simultaneously complaining like “IDK what the hold up is I’m ready to go!”
