Stipe remains my favorite Heavyweight of all time and has one of the best records to boot. The best thing I could possibly get/ask for is to see him beat Jon Jones, which I do believe he has a shot at.
Islam Aljo Yan Gamrot Fiorot Brady I’m so stoked for this card. Most stacked card of the year and I love waking up to watch fights. Prelims start at 7AM in the west and are stacked with interesting fights as well.
Oliveira Sterling O’Malley (this one is more wishful thinking) Dariush Brady Please let this be the end of the Belal talk. I don’t think the guy is even remotely impressive, and he talks like he’s already a champ that everyone wants to avoid. AND he’s been taking shots at Philly all week so extra fuck that guy on top.
Also, Volkanovski confirmed in an interview that late in the night before weigh-ins, the UFC brass reached out to his team to ask if he was on par for lightweight, because of concerns somebody was struggling with their cut in the headlining match. Both guys did make weight, but Oliveira seemed totally un-phased in the embedded episode and at weigh-ins. Meanwhile, Islam looked frail. He talked so much about Charles not being able to take shots and how everyone knocks him down in his last handful of fights. If he packed on muscle for striking thinking he’s gonna knock Charles out it could be a huge double-edged sword for him.
Man Belal just ate all of those shots like nothing and put it to him. Super awkward when Felder forgot his mic was hot and started going off though lol.
Hmm I respect his honesty in the post fight interview. I don’t agree but it was a good fight. Sean did better than I expected but I thought that slick ass takedown at the end sealed it for sure.
That was so fucking fun. I had it 2-1 Yan, but they both had too many moments to really say definitively. They both earned it. Edit: damn, live odds were -800 for Yan at the end. Sounds like people thought he should have won lol
Had it 2-1 for Yan. I know Dana said the winner gets the next title shot but after seeing Sean’s TDD…Aljo or TJ destroys him
For sure. Yan had a lot of takedowns but I don’t really think he got much, if anything, done with them. First round could have gone either way and I think Sean had the most impactful moments in the last round. Who knows. I didn’t really think there was a wrong way to score it tbh.
