Quick question to those of you who have gone to a live UFC event... On the schedule, they have Open Workouts on Thursday, Weigh-Ins on Friday, and Fan Experience on Saturday (all of which are open to the public). What exactly is the "Fan Experience"? Is it just where certain fighters will be there to sign autographs or something? We are thinking about heading up to Kansas City pretty early in the day since it's only a two hour drive for us. At least at Strikeforce events, it was always really easy to bump into all kinds of team members, media members, officials, etc. before the event if you just walked around the downtown area beforehand.
MMA Junkie actually posted today what it was... Sounds like it's just a few booths set up where you can meet some fighters and UFC personnel (TJ Dillashaw, Tyron Woodley, and some ring girls at this one). Think we're going to go just because we have nothing else to do. It might be fun to meet TJ, but I've already met Woodley (as you can see by my profile pic).
I'll take DJ, but I think Reis will make it competitive. Waterson, Jacare (hopefully with an emphatic win) Stephens and Big Country.
Picking all of the same, although I might actually be rooting for Reis and Whittaker upsets! I think Jacare in all likelihood will come out and dominate but I love Whittaker and would be happy if he made a statement here. Either way, I'm beyond stoked to see this card in person
I like Whittaker a lot, but this may be too big a leap taking on Jacare. Dude hasn't lost since 2012 (take that trash Romero decision out of here). Maybe he can find a way to get it done, guess we'll see. Enjoy the card, live events are always fun.
Won $50+ on the last 4 Whittaker fights and shall be throwing a twenty on him again!! Jacare deserves to be heavy favourite but Rob always has great gameplans to get the job done. Like both Rose and Waterson. Prob like Michelle a bit more but tipping Rose
Fuck yeah. I told my brother I had a gut feeling everyone was sleeping on Whittaker and called the upset and then got to see it play out live. So stoked for that kid. I would love to see Mousasi vs. Whittaker now.
That'd be an awesome match up. I want Michelle to win this next one but have a feeling Rose will come out on top.
Apparently, this was the worst rated UFC card on FOX. That is such a shame because it was an absolutely stacked card.
Plus, this was the second event in a row that had poor ratings but broke the gate record at the venue. So oh well. The card was awesome, especially to be there live. The Big Country fight, Green/Magomedov fight, and the Stephens fight were all duds but they were all followed by scraps that brought the energy back.
According to the article: Looking at those facts, it looks like interest was just down. Dropping 18% from the April card last year is really steep. And it also looks like ratings peaked for the Rose-Waterson fight.
