low quality card for me out side of Neal Luque I thought I was watching the slow motion replay of Sakai getting finished untill I unmuted the slowest ground n pound i had ever seen.
Neal really showed up. Haven’t seen Luque ever looked that damaged so early on. Hill is definitely durable. A win over Santos is pretty impressive at this point in his career, but at the same time, Santos hasn’t seemed the same since his major leg surgery.
"Obviously, he'll get signed" annnnnd they give him another Contender Series fight. haha. I had never watched the Contender Series until last season, but I loved it so I've been catching the last few shows. Boy, is it brutal though. It's tough to watch some of these guys/girls work for a win and then have to sit there live on television while getting critiqued by Dana immediately after.
Nickal looked great, as expected. I don't mind the development deal they gave him (I'm sure it was all pre-arranged anyway), give him a little more experience, juice the numbers for Contender Series. Win/win for everyone.
Crazy fight for Blanchfield too. She's only 23 and fighting against the most popular up-and-coming female fighter in the UFC at Madison Square Garden lol. But I agree, she's already got some good wins under her belt so I don't think Meatball will have an easy time with that one at all.
Seems like that fight was originally targeted for Brazil in January but Jiri doesn’t wanna fight in enemy territory as champ (valid) and Stipe/Jones has too many hoops to jump through
Hats off to Rory retiring. Man gave a lot in his career. Wish he would have bowed out sooner, but now's a good a time as any. Not that Dom needs to retire, from a competitive standpoint, but what's really left for him? Guess if Aldo loses you can try and make that one. I'm a lot more sensitive these days to the damage these athletes take.
Not sure where Lawler is on his contract. But maybe he’s looking for his 30th win and then retirement? Also in other news, I don’t understand how for the second time in my life my instagram is noticed by a big name in the mma scene. I know some of y’all remember Mike Chandler’s #unsunggrinders chat with me, but now Brendan Schaub is liking my story on different days? Does anyone else experience weird stuff like this ever? I do follow the UFC and plenty of fighters on IG, but that’s it. I do not follow Schaub nor am I a fan lol.
Almost positive there's some sort of bot/algorithm that likes/views stories in the hopes that you'll click and follow back.
Schaub also said once on Joes podcast that he has about a dozen people running his Instagram or some shit Also: Esparza/Weili booked to co-main with Izzy/Alex
They could still easily do five rounds for that. Two title fights and a five round #1 contender fight makes sense for MSG.
