I see Rob utilizing a bit more wrestling this time around instead of being so determined to just land bombs. That said, I also think Adesanya's takedown defense is way better than people give him credit for, and he'll be able to keep the fight standing and pick him apart. Bad stylistic matchup for Rob IMO.
Rob is one of the smarter fighters in the ufc imo. He’s going to come in with a different game plan. I also think Adesanya is just a bad matchup for him but I wouldn’t count him out.
Watching the first fight back it wasn't as one sided as I remember outside of the couple of excellent counter punches. I'm guessing Rob won't be as aggressive this time and hopefully make it a much closer fight.
I definitely agree with these as well. I think Rob is going to be more strategic instead of coming in guns blazing so it will be competitive, but I still have a hard time seeing him land those shots. Though I'm also surprised when I look back and see how well Gastelum did against Adesanya so who knows. It can be done.
While Adesanya has been a dominant champ, I definitely feel Rob’s fight IQ is higher. He was very open about how burnt out he was when he got to their first fight, and how he didn’t fight as smart as he’s used to. His focus was keeping the pressure and unfortunately found out how great of a counter striker Izzy is. No way we see the same type of fight.
I haven’t seen the context, but Brunson said he’s retiring in two fights. Is he a fucking idiot? Why would you say that?!
Honestly, more guys should have an exit plan. If his plan is to win Saturday, then fight for the title, that's pretty smart.
can see the UFC not wanting to give him a title shot if he's already said he's retiring after that fight though.
I think if Brunson or Cannonier looks good they will get the shot. Strickland wasn’t super impressive last weekend and Brunson specifically has been on a great run even though he has lost to both Izzy and Rob. Cannonier has a pretty week record too but MW is so thin right now and there’s not a lot of contenders that Izzy hasn’t already beat.
I’m absolutely all for fighters having exit plans. But saying that is a sure fire way of not getting a title shot if he wins.
Right, but they give/take titles arbitrarily anyway. Don't think I'd want that dictating the end of my career, especially if the UFC hasn't been beating down the door to give me a title shot anyway.
I'm very excited for it but also don't want to see either of them get knocked out lol. Both so likable.
I did a parlay of all underdogs for the top three fights. I have no idea why Brunson is an underdog. He’s on a much more impressive streak than Cannonier lol
I don't bet on fights, but Brunson would have made me a lot of money on this streak he's been on lol. Particularly with his fight against Till where I called him winning by submission. I have no idea why people count him out every time, but oh well.
Im pulling for Whittaker but feel like Izzy picks him apart again unless Whittaker surprises him with takedowns or something.
