They were two 250+ mammoths wrestling for control, continuously switching positions. Even if Ngannou spent a little time pressing his weight from being tired without striking, that’s still impressively maintaining control over the guy still trying to get out, that everyone said was gonna clown you after having already slammed him which no one has done. I’m only more impressed with Ngannou. Shut down Gane AFTER the first two rounds and showing so much more skill in grappling than anyone knew. When Gane got top position I thought it was over for him, and he got out! Hats off over here.
So happy to watch everything blow up in Danas face. If Dana paid his fighters who are main draws we would have had an incredible fight between Gane and Francis 4 or 5 months after Francis won the title.
Also, that was a total champion performance last night by Ngannou. Fighting with the injuries he had and adjusting his style in pretty much the most radical way. Incredible.
I mean, I don’t disagree with any of what you just said, but also none of that really matters lol. Francis did what he had to do, and I’m certainly not knocking him for it, but Herb Dean himself has gone on record numerous times before that when two fighters appear to be at a stalemate on the ground and he isn’t seeing the fighter in top control trying to advance the position or do damage, that’s when he will typically intervene. It really doesn’t matter, because I don’t think it has any effect on the outcome, but as I said before, in that final frame after Francis settled into side control there was no effort made to advance the position and almost no strikes or attempts at strikes being thrown. Fights have been stood up for far less before.
At what point is a reactionary promoter who can't promote fighters anymore, who's been hollowed out by his own biases over two decades, finally a liability to the shareholders
Dana sucks as much as ever. Can’t believe how such money hungry people couldn’t see the potential of investing in Ngannou.
dana probably never forgave him for the stipe loss, which makes it even funnier that they went on to replicate that entire early career trajectory (hype some flash KOs, he gets embarrassed for twenty five minutes on the ground, goes on to lame decision after lame decision) in fucking rozenstruik
Incredibly funny to think about the idea of Ngannou using his last fight on this contract to just nuke Blaydes again
Fairly boring main event which is exactly what I expected from Gane haha yet still surprised at how it played out. I’m honestly nothing but impressed with Francis though. He was clearly compromised anyway, but just the fact that he was able to have ANY plan b at all was amazing and shows that he’s more than just a power puncher. He solved a puzzle that not even JDS, Volkov, Lewis, etc. could figure out. His takedowns were great and that sweep in the last round was so clutch.
I definitely think Ngannou loses that on stamina alone. But w/e, he’s 35 and beaten everyone. Go make your money boo.
Tito's inability to speak/type is an infinite source of comedy gold. It's hilarious to me that this dude, of all people, actually had times in his life where he thought he needed to go into fight commentary AND politics... Two areas where he is forced to speak publicly on a regular basis.
I'm sure Jake Paul represents some things I don't agree with, but I can't deny being a fan of what he's doing for fighters and how he is taking on Dana. No clue what impact he can actually make but just glad to see someone with his level of "fame" advocating for the fighters.
