Ariel saying that the Volk fight and Yan/Sterling is moving to the 273 and that 272 will be headlined by a non-title fight and was being coy with the number 305..
Yeah that’s a fight I have zero desire to see and not really worth buying a PPV for. Two guys coming off multiple losses to Usman and I see Colby taking down Jorge repeatedly.
I think Leon has a shot for sure. I still kind of feel like Usman has plenty of holes in his striking which will eventually be his undoing. It’s just a matter of someone being able to deal with his wrestling (which i know is easier said than done). I kind of think Leon can stay at range, but who knows. It’s a good matchup.
Agree here. Think it's a great matchup now, they've both evolved so much from the first one. Like you, I think Usman has some holes in his striking, and we've all seen wrestlers fall in love with their striking when they have a little success, only to get exposed. Either way, I have high expectations if this fight gets announced.
Me too. He’s probably my favorite fighter at the moment so seeing him derail a fighter on a 9 fight win streak is amazing. The mental toughness to bounce back after the Holloway loss then putting on a performance like that…wow. Dude is a monster.
Yeah Giga is too one dimensional and definitely has a ceiling at 145. He may beat some in the lower half of the top 10, but he is far below anyone in the top 5. Dude was way overrated based off of two wins of Cub Swanson and Barboza. Besides that he hasn’t really fought anyone. Kattar is a beast and super fun to watch so it was nice to see him bounce back.
A lot of it comes down to styles too. Giga clearly had trouble fighting while moving backwards and obviously those kicks don’t work that way either. This is part of the reason I didn’t look at Kattar’s loss to Max so harshly. That was just a terrible stylistic matchup for him. Max is obviously great, but he doesn’t look like a god fighting someone like Volk or Dustin who won’t let him constantly move forward like that. It happens to all of them. That’s why I knew a vet like Kattar would be able to figure it out and bounce back. He definitely knew how to shut down a guy that other experienced fighters have had a lot of trouble with.
Keep taking those L’s Giga. What a damn fool. Morning Report: Giga Chikadze still confident following Calvin Kattar loss: ‘If I would fight with this guy 10 times, 9 I would win’
