It is absolutely insane how much damage Aldo causes to Font every time he touches him. Even in round 5, he looks like he’s done but he throws a small punch out there that just clobbers him and drops him. The power disparity in that fight was unreal.
I didn’t pay money to watch it the first time, same as almost any other event, but I might not even watch it this time. First one was incredibly boring
Holly Holm being inducted into the boxing hall of fame alongside Jones Jr, James Toney and Cotto. Pretty cool
guys, who do you think will win Poirier or Oliveira?) It is a 50/50 I think, Porier is definitely better in striking, but the way Charles chokes is incredible, he can attack from any position on the ground, which is really dangerous. And most probably Charles will take down Dustin. Anyway, that would be a great fight. I wish Porier wins because I want a sticker to be a champ, striking is much more beautiful. Btw here is some nice Muay Thai Info blog that would be very useful for beginners in MMA.
I think Dustin is the safe bet. Despite his loss to Khabib, which is largely the biggest reason as to why he’s still underrated for many, he’s become one of the most well rounded fighters in his proper division and a deserving champ. I love Max Holloway and still have to admit Dustin outboxed him. He can grapple well, eat hard shots and still keep a crazy pace. Only 32 and besides Hooker, hasn’t taken much damage in some time.. All that said, I like the crazy stir up Oliveira caused beating Chandler. Much like Dustin, he’s a come from nothing story, remains humble and has developed majorly on his feet to match his jiu jitsu level. I kinda love this fight and just hope its great tbh. edit: lol I do not pay attention to profiles enough. But whatever, good subject for the week.
I want Poirer to win, but I have a feeling Olivera takes it. Both guys are in incredible runs and it’s hard to pick but I lean Olivera due to his ground game. I think he takes it on the 2nd by Submission. This card is awesome. Tons of ranked fights. Nunes is always a joy to watch and I’m always wishing for Sugar Sean to get his ass locked. Very excited for this weekend especially since I won’t have to juggle football with fights for the first time in awhile.
This one's hard for me because they kind of mirror each other. Poirier is excellent standup mixed with a really good ground game. Oliveira is excellent ground game with really good striking. I sort of feel like this fight has always been looked at as Dustin's inauguration or something, like it's a given he's going win, but Oliveira definitely has a style that could pose some problems for him. If I were to bet, I would say Poirier will eventually put him away with the boxing. He doesn't tend to get overzealous like Chandler so he won't gas himself out going for the finish. It's just a matter of whether or not Oliveira is able to climb all over him like he did with Tony.
He’s got those lanky long arms but Dustin’s check hooks are a real problem for coming in close to range. Oliveira is gonna have to catch him on the chin first before trying to take him down. No easy feat.
Smart on Woodley fighting Paul again; the most easy money in the world for him. If he trains a bit more he might do better the 2nd time
A lot of people probably betting on her since Nunes is like -1000 haha. Too bad Chael picked her because that definitely means she’s going to lose.
