No way do I think Chimaev should get that big of a jump. He’s only just reached no. 10. No doubt the UFC would give it to him though if Leon accepts.

 

Hes only just reached 10 but he's absolutely demolished every person he's fought. He was going to fight Leon last year, might as well finally make that fight.

Yeah, I see no problem in Chimaev getting a higher ranked fight like this. I mean, they just gave Belal and god damn Nate Diaz fights with Leon, so I don't think it's that crazy of an idea to put Khamzat there. He was the one originally scheduled to fight him last year anyway.

Leon's schedule has been ridiculous ever since the pandemic started. Canceled fight with Woodley due to travel restrictions, three separate cancelations of the Khamzat fight due to both of them contracting COVID, fight with Belal ends in an eye poke, fights Nate Diaz and dominates for 4.5 rounds before almost getting finished, canceled fight with Jorge. Dude is cursed.

 

I thought it was even sillier when Edwards was willing to take the fight with him then. I know the UFC doesn’t respect the rankings but the man needs to fight at least 2 guys in the top 5 of the division for me to be like ok title shot.

 

I'm not too concerned who they give a title shot to in welter weight since all the most deserving contenders have had their shot thanks to the champ has been so active and dominating.

 

I still wanna see Usman vs Thompson at some point. Even if it’s not for a title.

I love Yair but the match up really doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. He’s only had two fights since the mauling Frankie gave him which was 4.5 years ago. Like how is he #3?!
Really hoping for a super exciting fight but am scared Max destroys him.

 

That is weird, I didn’t really think of it that way. He has basically been coasting on that Hail Mary win over Zombie in 2018.

His last win (and only one since) was October 2019 and that was over Jeremy Stephens. Meanwhile, Giga has 7 wins since September 2019 and is ranked #8 lol.

 

TUF Season 30 next year will feature heavyweights so perhaps have HW coaches
