What are the odds the UFC releases Jones this time? I know they've covered for him over and over and he's only faced mild punishment... but they sort of seem to be at odds with him at the moment anyway and he doesn't even plan on fighting until sometime next year at the earliest anyway. It's sad that that is what would make the difference, but...it wouldn't surprise me. Though on the other hand, it doesn't seem like this has been quite as big of news as I would have suspected (probably because it's like the tenth time something like this has happened and people are desensitized).
They will probably get with him behind the scenes and ask when he was planning on returning, then go and slap a suspension on him for that amount of time, making it seem like they did something.
Yup fuck Jon, he used to be my absolute favorite, obviously that was a long time ago. Cut him and don't give him a single bit of the spotlight ever again UFC. Unfortunately we know the fight promotion business in general and there's no way all promotions will leave him alone. Dana has the chance to have a fucking backbone and cut Jones forever. There is so much talent there already and younger talent on the rise. Fucking disgusted by this.
The only hope of people changing is when they face CONSEQUENCES. The more serious the offense the more serious the consequence needs to be. What fucking legitimate consequences has Jon had? Fucking none.
I can definitely see this. It's also ridiculous, but I can totally see the UFC cutting him and throwing him under the bus the first time he loses convincingly. Right now they still want to hang on to their "undefeated" GOAT even though he's been a constant liability (and also turning in some lackluster/boring performances). If and when he loses, he'll basically lose every bit of leverage he has.
Sigh, yup you're right. You would have to ask if Greg Hardy did what he did WHILE employed with UFC would he still be employed. I truly think they would get rid of him but I wouldn't bet the house on it and that's sad to think about.
Yeah, I hear you. If you're a draw, or have the potential to be (which I guess Hardy was at one point), I legitimately think it'd take a conviction, with substantial jail time, for them to cut you. But like you said, I wouldn't bet the house on that, even at that point. I don't know why they wouldn't cut him at this point though. You win points for finally doing the right thing. You don't have to pay him more than you feel he's worth. And you're big enough to keep rolling along. It's incredibly cynical, and I feel gross typing that out, but there's a window there for them if they want it.
That’s a courageous decision. He’s basically taking a bullet for the UFC. Islam is an absolute savage that nobody wants to fight.
This weekends card has potential to be pretty good. The weekend after that however…woof. Not sure if I’ll even check the results lol
Looks like he’s looking for a January return https://mmajunkie.usatoday.com/2021/10/ufc-news-bryce-mitchell-next-fight-january-hand
Glad they got it right. Should have been stopped as soon as he went out. It doesn’t matter how he responded, he was obviously knocked out before the fall woke him up.
