That's awesome. Judging would definitely interest me, but I don't think I'd ever want to ref anything.
Me either. A good ref goes unnoticed and thus never gets any praise. The only time you're noticed is when people want to criticize you for stopping a fight too late/early or things like that. Plus, you have a lot more resting on your shoulders. The fighter's well-being is at stake. The judging thing is harder than you would think, and I could see how much pressure you could be under if you were watching a major fight BUT...the fun thing about amateurs is that 95% of them are stoppages and I hardly end up even making a decision on an entire card. The guys are either highly mismatched, not in good enough shape to even go three rounds, or they are getting their fights stopped earlier than pros since they aren't doing this for a living.
I've said it earlier in this thread that I actually like this fight. Being for a title is wonky, but it's MMA so of course it's going to be wonky. Brett sums up my thoughts:
Meanwhile, Jacare and Romero continue to clean out the rest of the division. But really, I like the fight.
Title fight is pretty full on after 3yrs(?). No doubt he's fit enough but he ain't young no more. Lucky Bisping isn't a dominant champ. GSP could have the strap straight off the bat Jacare has to be filthy!
This card is stupid good. Going with Woodley for sure. I've switched between Tony and Khabib every day, so I have no idea how to go with that. As always, I'll pick Reem, but if Hunt knocks him into next week I won't remotely be surprised.
Yeah this whole card is a pick 'em, for sure. I hate the Wonderyboy/Woodley match up just as much as last time because I don't want to see either lose. I think Wonderboy is going to come out a little more aggressively this time. Not sure if that's going to end badly for him or not, but I think all things considered, I'll pick Woodley. Khabib vs. Tony I don't even want to get into. Both guys are going to go nuts. So glad that is a five rounder. Reem vs. Hunt, I'm with you on. Wouldn't be surprised if Overeem outpoints him but I see Hunt landing a good shot in there that puts him down. The UFC is probably praying that Hunt loses.
I plan on betting on these fights. I've been stressing about the Khabib / Ferguson fight for a week now. ny heart says Khabib, my mind says Tony. At the end of the day, might just come down to the odds. I think right now Khabib is -175.
So with the IV ban, you're allowed to take an IV if you're in the hospital suffering from possibly life-threatening dehydration. The caveat is that now he cannot win the title...the bullshit title, so who gives a fuck.
I'm convinced that the UFC has very stupid medical restrictions placed on their fighters, so much so that fight cards with high profile fights are tarnished.
