I’ll be interested to see Gane defend against the aggression that Ngannou will bring. Very exciting matchup there. I do think Gane beats him. But Francis needs one punch from literally any angle to end it lol.
I do think it’s crazy to put Gane at even odds with Francis. Lewis hasn’t looked great in a lot of his wins and is very reliant on his power.
Lewis is extremely average lol. I’m always a little shocked at how hyped he is. I guess just the weakness of hw
Francis destroying Stipe and beating Rozenstruick/JDS/Cain/Overeeem/Blaydes in less than two minutes is far more scary than anything Gane has shown.
I’d say Gane putting on technical (yet sometimes boring) showcases is equally as exciting/scary as Francis (to me at least). Because we don’t see many technical showings at heavyweight.
Lewis' biggest issue tonight was mental; he just wasn't there ready to engage and fight tonight. I'm guessing it was the combined pressure of fighting for his hometown, and fighting for an interim belt. Even on the walk out and getting into the cage you could tell he was nervous. Why he just couldn't get himself to engage 90% of the fight. Gane's face was sitting right there and he just couldn't throw that punch. If this fight was held in any other city I bet we'd have a much different outcome
I agree, but most of the guys he fought aren’t anywhere near as athletic as Francis/Stipe. He can easily pick apart dudes that have shitty movement.
I'm so excited for ngannou/gane. Hopefully Gane wants to fight fairly soon again because I can't wait to see Ngannou back in action. I know it's been said a million times leading up to this but Ngannou is the greatest thing the UFC could have ever asked for after Conor and Dana's pride is just throwing it in the trash.
Yeah I said this back in February I believe, but I think Gane presents a tough stylistic matchup for Francis. Obviously Francis is way more explosive than Lewis as well as more well rounded, but Gane’s elusiveness is still the key to winning there too. When you have these heavy hitters missing over and over, they tend to get frustrated and become hesitant because they don’t want to gas out their arms. Still though, Ngannou can just breathe on him and get the KO.
Gane was making waves before he got to the UFC in the Muay Thai world so his striking game does not surprise me, but his elusiveness does. That would be the biggest issue Ngannou faces. Still think the Ngannou we saw against Stipe earlier this year retains.
