As dumb as that whole thing is, it brings me great joy knowing how salty it must make Conor

Tate not only performed really well, but looked damn strong and accurate in there for 5 years off. It’s cool to see her fighting again. If she can do that a couple more times and get the rematch with Amanda I’m with it.

Miesha hasn’t made her title hopes that apparent yet, but you can’t help but to think that she saw a great opportunity to come back at this particular point in time while there is a lull in competition for Nunes. She was probably sitting there thinking “two good wins will put me right in title contention”. Haha. I also wouldn’t doubt if Nunes retires at some point in the near future and she is able to capitalize on the vacant belt.

Very true. If she’s able to finish 1-2 more top ten opponents and look as good as she just did, no doubt it could be a potential final fight for Nunes.

Unrelated, but who do you have winning this weekend? I'm curious to see if TJ will look like his usual self or if the layoff/lack of PED's (hopefully...) will affect his performance.

I'll say it, I wouldn't mind the winner of Cory/TJ being next for the title.

Yeah my unpopular opinion is that Yan (or anyone that loses their title by cheating) should have to take another fight before getting another shot. Based on how they’ve done things recently though I’m really surprised that TJ didn’t get an immediate shot though tbh.

    Not here. Isn't happening. Supporter

I saw an interview where TJ said he’s been running a bunch of businesses and no longer needs to fight to be financially stable. If he hasn’t been fully committed combined with the fact that he’s presumably no longer on any supplements that were helping him out makes me think he’s going to lose this one. Still very interested to see if I’m wrong.

    I see him losing too

Cejudo starched him pretty quickly, and Sandhagen has looked phenomenal. TJ notoriously suffers during weight cuts. That, combined with a lack of PEDs, I don’t think TJ wins by any means. The UFC needs to stop putting big names with years-long long layoffs in with top 5 guys. Never goes well for them.

    (unless you’re GSP :-))

I know I sweet talk GSP a lot but the man deserves it. Despite the lack of fighting, the man lives to be in shape and healthy at all times. I don’t see many in the fight game who push themselves quite like he does. It’s clearly a passion. That combined with his fight IQ and ability to adjust mid-fight regardless of circumstances, makes him the GOAT to me. Khabib certainly left with the best record, and his technique dominated the guys who were present in the division, but we never truly saw him against an adversary who had the same level of wrestling ability. If he was getting hit, he would just hold them down again. I always wanted to know how Khabib would look if he was caught off guard in a fight.

Normally I'd agree, but I don't need to see TJ starching some dude ranked 10-15. Should be sink or swim for him after his self-imposed lay off.

The rankings really don’t hold much merit to me. Rob Font was like #12 two fights ago or so, and Conor has been in the top 10 at Lightweight with his sole win in the division 5 years ago. Top 5’ers are guys who are undeniably at the top of their game because they’re in the prime of their careers (for the most part).
