Diego, despite being detached in many aspects, is a regular online and must’ve seen the outcry not only from fans but other fighters as well regarding that leaked video. That, combined with the end of his UFC career, clearly made a moment of self-reflection of some sort.

 

Also read today that Jacare is no longer with the UFC. Think 2021 has seen the most UFC Vets retire or be let go than any other year.

 

It was definitely time to move on from him.

 

Yeah, Jacare was another legend who they held onto out of respect. He was one of the greatest ever to never get a title shot so it seemed like they wanted to keep giving him the opportunity to get back in contention if possible (similar to Overeem).

I honestly thought he should have gotten the nod over Yoel so who knows how that might have changed his trajectory. Either way, it’s sad to see him getting finished by prospects.

 

Cody stated he feels a finish over Font this weekend means he gets a title shot. So, expect Cody to fight like old Cody most likely. Can’t help but wonder if the divorce process has effected his fight game at all.

Holy fuck it’s been 5 minutes into this fight and Bisping and Felder have incorrectly referred to strikes thrown being thrown or done by the opposite fighter. Thank somebody that people don’t listen to combat sports via radio cause they wouldn’t know what the fuck actually happened with these two doofuses on the mic.

I love seeing the diversity of Cody and that he’s learned new stuff, but it seems to be gassing him and making him slow. Think Rob might catch him bad and put him out.

 

You can tell that he knows he isn’t going to win standing. But his ground game is not good enough.

He’s biting on a lot of feints and then begins to back up, winds up eating the jab after. Rob is implementing a crazy good formula that couldn’t be working better. Time to see if Cody has the surprise KO in him to save this.
