Tony probably never had great takedown defense to begin with, but I think the commentary is right: his unorthodox style and unpredictability carried him but now he doesn’t have the fundamentals to fall back on. He just doesn’t look like he has the tools or confidence to end a fight anymore which was key to his style during his run. He looks a little hesitant and that pretty much takes away any and all weapons he had.
Man that was hard to watch. I feel for him, he's gonna have trouble accepting this new stage of his career.
