On paper not better than 205 but 209 looking better than the final 200. Maybe not as deep but those 3 fights will be amazing
I was just about to post this. He takes up a lawsuit with UFC right after announcing another fight? I'm confused.
I understand his frustration. But god just take the fight and then maybe sue. I just wanna see them fight
Hunt is a principled guy, I respect the hell out of him. Gets a whole lot more media attention since he has an upcoming fight rather than doing this after the Overeem fight
Seems like a smart play, with a fight already in place the UFC can't really blackball him because of the lawsuit. I assume they could get into some legal stuff to get him off the card, pay off Reem, etc. but it'd be bad PR (from my opinion).
Just a heads up for you, public tickets go on sale Jan 20. If you're in the fight club thing you'll have access a couple days prior.
That fight needed to be five rounds. This is the rare time I'm all for an interim belt. Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm all the way on board with BJ Penn this weekend (I'm so wrong).
Also, Tito Ortiz needs to retire. Not only am I not interested in ever seeing that overrated turd/woman beater fight again, he has 3 wins out of his last 12 matches and is getting old. Do people really still want to see this guy fight?
Weird event. Was hoping BJ would have a better showing, but he looked like he was lost out there. Still tough as ever, though, but I hope he retires. The sport has passed him by. Agree with everyone else that Lauzon probably should have lost that fight, but I do wish Marcin would have been landing some more or had been a little more active with those takedowns. Lauzon did do more damage and was close to hitting that arm bar, at least.
Seems like a good idea, but I have no idea what he would do at this point. A lot of guys age in different ways (can't take a punch, slower reflexes, too much overall damage/too slow). BJ just looks like he's forgotten how to fight altogether. It's very strange. By watching his last couple of fights, you would never know that he used to be so good at grappling, boxing, head movement, etc.
I like his message. Most people usually deny that they are declining because of age or make excuses for why they didn't work as hard as they used to... He just straight up said, "I'm old and I felt slow even though I trained my ass off. I'm done."
