If I'm the UFC I wouldn't budge from that number; they hold the leverage in the negotiation, and if they got the numbers that say it won't draw the viewers like a Conor/Khabib fight would, then no reason to offer Jones any higher
Not that Jones intended this, but if his demands mean other guys get paid more that's not bad either.
In Jon’s latest tirade, he compared the fight to Ali vs Foreman lmfao. Also referenced Conor and if it were him saying what Jon is saying, then it’d be no problem for the UFC. While that might be true, Conor has been just active as Jon in the past 6 years, if not more when you look at 2016. And Conor took the Dustin fight for 5mil. Get real Jones.
Depends, really. If he hit me like he hit JDS, I’d take it. If he blasted me like he did Overeem, I’m out.
I agree with most of the takes on this... I’m happy Jones is sticking it to the UFC and is actually throwing out numbers to the public. Hopefully other fighters have his back. Still though, I don’t think this fight has the hype he thinks it does. Jones himself lost a lot of steam with his last three fights where he coasted to some lackluster decisions and then we watched all three of those contenders get absolutely smoked in their next couple of fights. The match up is intriguing but I don’t know of anyone who is foaming at the mouth for it.
After seeing Jan be able to figure out Izzy, I honestly think I wanna see Jones fight him just as much as Ngannou.
Copied from elsewhere but a good point “I think this is a very bad scenario for fighters. As I mentioned above, Endeavor has a ton of debt and the UFC was 80% of their revenue last year. the UFC's revenue was driven in large part by keeping fighter pay capped overall at around 20%. Now if fighters look to negotiate and try and get a pay raise, even form a union, they risk driving retained earnings down--revenue that right now Endeavor needs badly. I expect Endeavor to push back on any cost increases, especially in the UFC. If they lose that fight and fighter costs rise/UFC revenue decreases before other sources of revenue start coming in, Endeavor could go bankrupt. That's a doomsday scenario but given how much debt they have and their credit rating, an actual possibility. Endeavor will probably use that fact against fighters in negotiations, whether they are at the brink or not.”
That’s crazy. I mean, props to him for solidifying a second huge opportunity for himself after a loss.
Just watched Dillashaw’s interview with Brett and I really, really hope to see Sandhagen finish him. He said Cory’s become a “douche” all because he called TJ out during a post-fight interview and brought up his suspension. An actual quote “he said I was taking steroids, which I wasn’t even taking a steroid, just running his mouth on complete nonsense.” Uh, TJ, do you think EPOs are excused as a PED because they aren’t classified under “steroid” you dense moron? They’ve been banned in sports since the 90’s.
