I want to see Rob get to fight for the title as well. By far my favorite Middleweight since Anderson’s decline. The only middleweight that has beaten him is Izzy. Thompson KO’d him years before at Welterweight and that’s when he decided he couldn’t do the cut anymore. He’s fought just as many tough guys as Izzy. I think he definitely wasn’t at his best when they last fought and hope to see the rematch ASAP. I think he finishes Gastelum.
Also also, Burns and his team offered fights to “3 top Welterweights,” and said the only one who said no was Colby. So Burns is likely fighting Wonderboy in June. If he also offered a fight to Edwards he’d likely have said no as well. So my guess is it was Wonderboy and Chiesa.
Dana finally posting that Khabib is retired. Looks like he finally accepted it. Haha. I wonder how soon we get an announcement about the title situation? Poirier has to be involved somehow (if not straight up promoted), but I seriously wouldn’t put it past Dana to make Dustin/Conor 3 for the belt, as ridiculous as that is.
Guess they proved me wrong because this definitely insinuates that Dustin chose a trilogy bout with Conor and they didn’t want Conor to fight for the belt just yet. My gut tells me... Oliveira > Chandler. Poirier > McGregor. Poirier > Oliveira.
That’s crazy. I can’t believe Dustin chose the trilogy fight over the title fight. I get it, the money, but I didn’t think he’d accept any fight without the title up for grabs. I think Chandler beats Oliveira, but I’d like to see the opposite happen.
yeah, i think Chandler is a nightmare for a bunch of the top lightweights, wish Poirier was fighting for the title but money talks and then you have Gaethje to also fit into all of this I just hope Khabib (((((Ali))))) doesnt do all the teasing and cryptic bs on social media now that he’s officially retired lol
also some bangers announced despite the epo and all, tj’s still one of my fav fighters and i hope he reclaims the title
it'll be cool to see the division move along and hopefully have more than one title defense a year now
Im just happy lightweight is getting some fights announced. Since the McGregor/Poirier fight, it was like 8 of the top 10 guys (including the champ) have had no fight scheduled. There were a million great matchups but none were even in the works.
McGregor beats Poirier for the title. Fights Nate Diaz in his first defense. EDIT: Just saw that Dana wants Chandler/Do Bronx. Exciting.
Yeah I genuinely can’t stand TJ so I hope we see Cory dismantle him early and just get that hype train halted right at the terminal.
I don’t know about that. Olivera has looked amazing as of late. It’ll be a much different and well rounded challenge for Chandler than Hooker. Hooker looked like crap as much as Chandler looked dominating.
I like Chandler despite some of his douchery that you guys pointed out to me (he wrestled at Mizzou which is about 3 minutes from where I'm currently sitting), but I agree that Hooker was a little off his game. I usually don't make excuses for fighters, but I think he was struggling with previous wars, his awful situation with quarantine and being away from his family, and the lack of a crowd hyping him up. I also just feel like Chandler goes on these runs where he looks unbeatable and then he comes up short when you least expect it. If you've been watching him for years, you know not to get swept up in the hype after a performance like his last one. I think Oliveira is crafty enough to get by his initial onslaught and then he'll be able to cruise.
