It might be the Aussie in me, but this really should be for the interim title. Cos we all know what happens if Izzy beats Jan.

I’m rooting for Jan just because I feel like he’s getting fed to Izzy. He’s older but in great shape and seemingly very sharp at this stage of his career, and I kinda want to see him defend against some of the other LHW contenders he hasn’t seen like Rakic & Jiri.

  3. I’m probably going to put money on Jan to win this by KO.

Jan is by FAR the strongest person Izzy has been in a cage with and he carries the bulk of that power in his left hand.

Izzy (maybe a bad example but) got flatlined in Glory by Alex Pereira’s left hand. And I think Jan is gonna come underneath and sleep him.

Izzy doesn’t have that invincibility aura that Anderson had to me.

Yeah no, not even close to the same aura. Whereas Silva did have a few moments pre-Weidman where grapplers were able to give him some tests, Silva was scary good standing and on the ground. He didn’t just always sit on the counters, he could turn it on and be an aggressively accurate striker. Izzy is very much a long, hard to hit Kickboxer who does surprise me with his power, but still isn’t untouchable. Gastelum proved that.

  5. Love this slate of fights!

Say some sort of prayer for Northcutt.

Also I’m pumped for these next two fights. Loved watching Ankalaev destroy Cutelaba so I’m rooting for him.

  7. My immediate thought when they made that fight was “Aoki is going to turn him into a pretzel”

That’s a tremendous lineup for ONE though. Will probably watch all four cards.

Wow it’s been a while since I heard Buffer mess up!

  9. Gane just gave us a glimpse of how Jon Jones is going to look at heavyweight imo.

He fought a tonnnnn like Jon at 205 in there and he’s going to win a lot of fights doing that.

  12. Gane will almost certainly get Lewis next.

  13. Ciryl isn’t going to be a super popular heavyweight. but will probably be a very successful one.

He fights a very disciplined/calculated fight in a division where most guys are the complete opposite of that. He was able to completely nullify Rozenstruik.

Boring but very refreshing to see at HW.

I’d like to see him fight Francis for this reason. He is very defensively sound and light on his feet, so he might be able to make Francis miss a lot. I’m mostly just curious to see how Francis would deal with someone when he’s not able to land that big shot in the first round.

  15. Cormier saying Jones won’t knock anyone out at heavyweight....lol

I’m not disagreeing with him but that comment from DC is hilarious all things considered.

Jon’s hardest opponent is himself, as corny as that is to say. There isn’t anyone he can’t beat technically in LHW or HW. Do I think he’ll win? I hope not. But if he isn’t cheating and his chin holds up he’s a problem for anyone.

what’s that famous last words quote from DC? “Don’t think you’re gunna kick me in the head with your left leg, Jon”

Honestly as a Jon Jones hater I would be pretty psyched to see him knock Stipe out

  20. Yeppp. He’s definitely the most physically gifted fighter of all time (I’d put Juicy Brock in this list too. It’s a shame we couldn’t see Brock come over when he was way younger)

  21. If Francis couldn’t put Stipe out, Jones definitely won’t. but I do think Jon beats Stipe.

    Chimaev retiring?

  23. Wow.

  24. This is after he posted a picture of the aftermath of him coughing up blood.

This is sad honestly. He was the hottest thing in MMA six months ago and it looked like his ceiling was the fucking sky. I hope he ends up getting healthy. Virus is no joke.
