Outside of the literal last second lost to Rosenstruik I was definitely thinking Reem was piecing together solid fights to potentially have his last fight as a title shot, but that’s out the window now. Frankie has proven over the last 3 years he can’t hang with anyone top 5 from 135-155. But I think illogically he’ll be the one of the two to keep trying long after he should.
As a long time Reem fan, it was definitely fool's gold. Staying active and beating non-contenders can take you a long way in heavyweight, especially in a pandemic. I get it, but it's time to hang it up. You're right on Edgar. He got bombed out of 145, and the split against Munhoz (which I thought he lost) wasn't super inspiring. He's should have been at 135 years ago. Now's the time to fight Dom, if Dom will even have it, and retire.
Cruz is/was such a good fighter it’s a shame we couldn’t have seen him more active during a lot of the recent bantamweight streaks over the past few years. That night Cody dismantled him changed so much. Cruz was looked at as pretty much the goat of bantamweights. But no one talks about him anymore. The loss to Cejudo didn’t help.
I'm down for a tournament, but all tournament fights need to be on the same night. Quarterfinals on one card. Semi's on another. These tournaments lose steam so quick when they spread every quarterfinal fight over four cards.
Every fight is 5 rounds. Title on the line throughout the entire tournament. Fights are close enough date wise. Hopefully no one catches covid or gets injured.
While I still think Nemkov will retain his title, Rumble and Romero facing each other first round so we are guaranteed this fight is crazy. The MMA gods tossing coins to their witchers.
I agree with this. At least this time it seems like they are trying to keep the first round just a week apart (which I get because they don't want to waste so many good fights on one card). It's annoying spreading them out so much because you kind of forget that it's even a tournament, but I guess with inevitable injuries that happen, it's hard to bank on everyone moving forward at the same pace.
Ffs does anyone else just get tired of watching the same fights never materialize. I’m beyond over Edwards to begin with and we keep holding up potential top 5 fights trying to continuously get Chimaev someone who’s in the top. Fuck em both tbh. Leon should be fighting Wonderboy.
They’re finally moving in from that fight. Leon will fight someone else. Hopefully Wonderboy. Also the next season of TUF will have welterweight coaches. gonna assume it’s Colby/Masvidal
Knew this fight was cursed. Although I don’t know if I can say that considering the curse really = COVID.
In light of recent events I thought I’d remind everyone of the first time Gina Carano’s career came to an abrupt end in case anyone hasn’t seen.
So Nate Diaz calls out Oliveira and Poirier. Edwards calls out Diaz. Wonderboy calls out Edwards. and Masvidal has decided to call out....Usman?
No surprise but no warm up fight for Jon Dana White: Jon Jones will fight Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou winner for heavyweight title
I’m so over all of that but mostly with Diaz and Edwards. The top guys at LW are kind of stuck because of Dana’s insistence that Khabib is coming back so I understand their frustration. Diaz doesn’t need to be anywhere in the conversation though. He claims to be done with 155 but calls out 155ers at 170? Just forget it man. Edwards and Masvidal should just fight each other already and get it over with, but maybe they’re waiting to see how things shake out Saturday before making any moves.
Whoever said Masvidal vs Colby as TUF coaches makes a hell of a lot of sense. Would pull since they highly dislike each other and would feud a lot, and both have their unfortunate large followings. Especially since it’s confirmed the coaches are welterweights.
