Holloway v Aldo could be happening at 208

Good for those ladies, but without Cyborg it doesn't interest me at all.

 

Apparently they asked Cyborg but she said she wouldn't be ready by February.

 

But she said she'd be ready by March, they couldn't wait two weeks? I mean Aldo/Rousey were gifted UFC belts when they introduced new divisions, but it's different for Cyborg because she needs a few weeks? It's not a huge deal, Cyborg starches whoever wins, but come on now.

 

I think they're desperate for a big fight on 208.

White is clearly annoyed with Cyborg. The Feb. fight would be five months removed from her previous fight, and she had 8 to 10 weeks to make weight and she is adamant that she couldn't do that. After all of the noise she has made about a 145lb division, I think he was more than a little annoyed that she needed 6 months to recover from cutting an extra 5lbs. White has been far pettier than this in the past.

 

The whole way they made her continue to cut weight for a class she couldn't make was/is very gross. Even more so now that they added her class anyway. Although, I will say that I understand why they financially put this fight on 208.

 

I want Holm to beat Cyborg when she defends it. Currently my favorite women's competitor.

Depends how big the next pay check could be. Or if he's willing to fight clean. I do hope he does, I was impressed with how he fought after so long out

 

Jones can officially return in July.

 

I hope he does too if he's willing to fight clean. I'd even be on board for a rematch with Hunt. Like it or not, dude is for sure a top ten heavy. Also, hopefully we get DC/Rumble in a few months with Jones getting the winner over the summer.

I planned my bachelor party in Vegas for UFC 209. So if Khabib v Ferguson is actually gonna happen, hot damn will I be happy. Interim belt or not.

Agreed. But if that fight happens, wild horses won't keep me away.

 

Why oh why do they want to do so many interim belts?... only benefit I see is if it bumps the fighter into a higher pay scale, but who knows. But, as we've seen with Aldo, the interim one doesn't even necessarily guarantee you a "title shot" against the guy you want lol.

The belt timeline with McGregor is ridiculous.
Aldo gets hurt and McGregor wins interim belt.
McGregor wins title.
Aldo wins interim belt.
McGregor wins 155 title, gets stripped at 145.
Holloway wins interim belt, Aldo promoted.
155 pound belt created.

That's a lot of belts...

 

The thought that an interim belt actually moves the needle with casual fans is laughable to me, but I'd be open if anyone wants to correct me. Market it as a title eliminator between two guys that don't like each other and you'll get just as many buys.

 

"Winner faces McGregor" is all the marketing you need to do
