Leon Edwards says he has zero interest in Wonderboy or Khamzat. I’m not sure who he wants to fight. Colby is going to get Masvidal (and that’s the right fight to make). Burns already has the next shot at the belt. Leon hasn’t fought in 15? 16? months. He’s going to get jumped by someone else, maybe even numerous people. He can’t expect a win over RDA from last summer to just glide him to a shot at the belt. It’s bullshit from numerous perspectives but Chimaev has 50000x the amount of hype as Leon against 1/100th of the competition. Edwards is quite literally wasting his prime trying to play a game that doesn’t favor him. Or his fighting style.
Idk why Wonderboy is fighting anyone other than Edwards right now. Seems like the fight to make. He even said he asked for Edwards.
I think Leon assumes he can sit out and get a shot without another win. Which isn’t going to work. If Colby beats Masvidal, he gets it again. If Khamzat keeps fighting as frequently as he has been and beats a Wonderboy/Two top 10 WW’s. He’s going to get one too. If Wonderboy derails Khamzats hype train, he’s going to jump up there.
That sucks. Could see Masvidal/Covington for BMF as a replacement. Can’t see them having Nunes headline another PPV.
I’m kinda shocked he’s not ranked but I guess that three fight skid he had last year didn’t help. I’d love to see that fight though. Although they seem hellbent on giving Khamzat a high ranked opponent. I’m still in the ‘give him Magny’ boat. Magny is ranked tenth. A win over someone like him should give him someone in that top 5 range. If he decimated Magny and then went on to do it against a Wonderboy/Edwards - give him all the title shots.
I like the Magny matchup as well. Magny is one of those guys who has a ton of experience, is well-rounded and you have a good grasp on how good he is. It's easy to predict who he beats and who he loses to, so a win over him is a good, clear indicator where someone sits in the rankings. Even with a win over Wonderboy or Edwards, I could still see a lot of people saying "Give him a wrestler!"
Wonderboy would smoke Edwards in a striking match that’s the real reason he won’t take it. Edwards needs to get a grip. The most famous moment of his career is getting punched backstage for talking shit.
I feel like he missed the boat there anyway. He only took one more fight after that scuffle, didn’t seem interested in fighting Masvidal/benefiting from the feud and then decided to sit out and cry about how unworthy everyone is. Like come on man, RDA is the man but a lot of the top guys have beaten him. You can’t ride that out forever.
Corey Anderson is making his Bellator debut against....Manhoef? whoever does their matchmaking needs fired lmao. What does Corey gain from beating a 44 year old kickboxer who is at a severe height and reach disadvantage? He loses a metric fuck ton by losing to Melvin. And I don’t think that’s entirely out of the question since he can still absolutely flatline anyone.
Also, get Vadim Nemkov over to the UFC immediately. Dude just became the champ and has already beaten the top LHWs in the company. (Davis, Bader, Mcgeary)
Been wanting to see that rematch for years now. Hope it happens in general, but next month would be amazing. Side note, I just remembered that Conor had also called out Felder after his last fight. That actually makes sense after seeing that he had the intention of fighting every couple of months this year.
Oh god, I just this weekend is on Dubai time, that’s a horrible time slots elsewhere out of Europe times
I think this weekend and next are on normal time? It looks like Khabib vs. Gaejthe (two weeks from Saturday) is the one that is happening on Dubai time (guessing this is for Khabib's benefit). That's actually not bad for the US. The main card is going to kick off around 1 in the afternoon for me lol.
I can’t wait for 253. Prelims start at 7-730 in the morning and main card is at 11 on the west coast. Will be nice to have the PPV be over by 3PM.
