You know what would be kinda sick? If they did a split broadcast and had Usman/Masvidal fight in Vegas and the rest of the card on Fight Island lol.

I know it’s unlikely but that would be pretty cool.

Gilbert Burns was defintely the most deserving of a shot, but Masvidal is a big upgrade when it comes to fan interest. I can't remember a time when such a big name filled in on such short notice. Its especially crazy since the card is overseas. Usman is defintely the favorite, but I'd love if Masvidal somehow pulled off the upset.

 

Diaz vs Mcgregor
Franklin vs Liddell
Weidman vs Maia

and I believe all three were underdogs with surprise upsets.

Forgot about Diaz/McGregor. That's defintely the closest to this since it was a short notice and a more anticipated matchup than Dos Anjos/McGregor.

I want Mas to win so so so badly. He deserves it. He’s come a long fucking way from fighting in backyards.
But Usman is a badddddd fucking dude.

 

Definitely worries me Masvidal is not getting a full camp or really any camp to prep for an elite grappler. Masvidal has always had an impressive takedown defense though. Can’t wait for this, what a card.

I met Usman and Masvidal on the same day a few years back and had nice, lengthy chats with each of them. Can’t say enough good things about either of them. This is going to be one of those fights where I’m not rooting for anyone. Just rooting for a fun fight, and may the best man win.
