I feel like they got lucky with Masvidal who was a sleeper superstar. You need to capitalize on his popularity and pay the man, especially if he's fighting someone way tougher than Nate Diaz ffs. Looks terrible for them when their biggest stars are walking away and putting them on blast. Like I said though, I'm glad they are speaking up just because Dana likes to throw them under the bus and say "he didn't want the fight.... we tried!"
Has anyone watched Last Week Tonight with John Oliver? I’ve always loved the show but his segments on the UFC the past two weeks have had me crying laughing.
Very frustrating that UFC is lowballing these top guys and we’re going to see them fight less because of it. These fighters are all underpaid compared to other sports but it sucks that even when you get to the top you can’t cash in because Dana is an egomaniac.
I'm sure it's being discussed in places but the ESPN deal with UFC and the PPVs has to be the reason top stars arent getting that top star pay they are looking for.
Who the f wouldn’t pay to see Masvidal vs Usman? Can’t really think of a better potential fight for a title right now that would pull outside of Stipe vs DC 3.
I would love to see Cody find his rhythm again. He looked good starting out against Munhoz but was quickly lured into a slug fest for the 3rd time in a row. Obviously I feel differently about the TJ fights with the reveals about his doping, but Cody definitely needs to pull back the reigns and be smart like he was when he fought Cruz. For the fights I'm excited for: Heinisch Hooper O'Malley Magny Sterling Garbrandt Nunes (but can you imagine if Spencer gets it done with only 9 professional fights?)
I ended up ordering. Prelims were a lot of fun. Nice wins for Burns, Garcia, Stamann, Pitolo, and Heinisch. That kid that Caceres fought looked like he was 12.
Super confident. Definitely upholding the hype for now. Seems really good at reading his opponents and adapting. I think we see Rob Font or Jimmie Rivera in there with him next.
