Seems like that's a reference to them being training partners and both getting their fights canceled... Kennedy and Evans should be fighting on 206, I think. I don't think they would fight each other, for one, and I don't think there's any way they could get anyone in there to fight Cowboy this weekend with all of the rules and regulations of New York.
The betting agency I've been using has the odds quite wide on most of the main fights. I may have a punt if they've got a few outsiders longer than most other US companies in that case
Wiki has Cowboy v Matt Brown at 206 which is cool. Glad we still get to see the Rashad v TK one. What was wrong with Rashad in the end. I couldn't find clarification. Something about abnormalities in medical?
Don't think they ever specified. I believe it was an issue from way in the past. Obviously, it hasn't been an issue for him as he's made a whole career out of fighting, but I believe NY is being very strict on what they're willing to sanction, where as somewhere like Nevada, who sanctions hundreds of events each year, probably wouldn't have a problem with it. Just how the state commissions vary I suppose.
Yeah they won't really say, which I find confusing. I was wondering if it could be something like an irregular heartbeat or along those lines? Like something that is apparently not alarming or immediately dangerous but that they would have to check out more before clearing him to fight... I'm not sure. Could be some rule specific to NY.
The only guess that I have is that it's some weird/strict NY rule. If it were something serious like an irregular heartbeat I'd have a hard time believing that the UFC would keep pushing Rashad out there, especially seeing that he does well on tv, has other projects, etc. As far as making it public, since it's a medical record NY probably can't do that legally, which leaves it up to Rashad. If he hasn't said anything, I have to think it'd be for strategic reasons (stress fractures in the foot, broken hands in training or something) where he doesn't want to give a competitive advantage away. Also, this thread is getting me through a plodding day at work, so hats off to everyone for that.
Those were my thoughts as well. The irregular heartbeat thing was just an example since people don't typically worry about that (it's not as concerning as it sounds) but might be enough to not pass the medicals, you know? But I agree he might just be dealing with a small injury that he could have fought through and doesn't want to make public. It's more that their explanation of the situation has been a little foggy.
Honestly not bummed at all that 2 fights are cancelled/rescheduled. The 206 card was lacking besides the main/comain and looks much stronger now. Cerrone vs Matt Brown is a much better fight than Gastelum vs Cerrone in my opinion. Can't wait for tonight. Here's my picks: Mcgregor Thompson Joanna Weidman Tate Edgar Khabib Natal Miller Carmouche
Sticking with my picks tonight, but if I were a betting man, I'd change my pick to Joanna. Still think there's money to be made on Johnson against Khabib. Edit: welp
Oh my god. That's why I didn't want to bet on that fight. Hahaha. "I love you Mike. See you soon...boi"
