That's true. Honestly can't remember the last time I saw anyone take that much damage and last that long.
Gaethje landed like 10 bombs that would’ve knocked out anyone else and Tony didn’t even get dropped. That’s maybe the most impressed I’ve been by someone getting their ass kicked haha
I’m surprised they didn’t mention Tony limping until the 5th round. He was limping since the first. I think his leg injury messed up his strategy. But still gotta give all credit to Gaethje obviously. He was so good.
Wow. That fight was just as crazy as I thought it would be. I’ll be the first to say I had Ferguson winning before the fight happened but I’m not surprised about the outcome.
that Francis KO tho easily one of the most devastating knock outs I have ever seen in all my years of watching MMA
I didn’t agree with the Cruz stoppage because he was trying to stand up and seemed fine immediately after, but I also didn’t blame the ref for making that call. However...there was 2 seconds left in the round and it’s a title fight. You have to let that go. Dom wasn’t going to be worse off by the time the horn sounded. Still though, Cejudo looked like he had Cruz figured out. That was pretty damn impressive.
I have a lot more respect for Cejudo after hearing what he said to Dom after the fight he said "I look up to you. thank you" and I thought that was really cool of him
Dom trying to drag the ref after and claiming he was drunk is a bad look. You lost Dom, don’t be a sore loser.
Parlayed Mitchell, Kattar, and Ngannou last night. Was really confident in those picks. But wow what a performance from Justin. He has leveled up so much in the past year. Picks his shot perfectly, with so much power.
I have no doubt that I would be salty too if a ref stopped my title fight when I felt like I was fine and had two seconds left in the round. But I still would never start taking personal shots at the ref like that. If you watch the ending, there is one SPLIT second where Dom looks like he goes limp and his head and hands just sort of lay on the canvas. It didn’t last long at all, but that specific moment seemed to be what triggered the ref to jump in. I feel like Dom needs to see it from the ref’s point of view before declaring that he was incompetent. I know Tony has always been pretty hittable, but Justin just couldn’t miss. It was incredible. I loved how he got carried away that ONE time (and whiffed a big haymaker) and then his coach made him back off on power and keep focusing on accuracy.
Nah, it's not on the ref to take time into consideration when ending a fight. If you're not defending yourself (which I don't think Dom was) then you stop the fight. Hope Dom cools off and walks his comments back, because this is such a terrible look for him.
Eh, I agree in most cases, but I definitely don't think you can look at it that rigidly. The clock can change the fighters' strategies when they're hurt if they know they are seconds away from being saved by the bell, and the ref has to be aware of that. ("Do I scramble to get away?" vs. "Do I lie here and cover my head?") Not saying Keith made the right or wrong call there, but you have to at least be able to consider whether or not one or two more seconds is going to give the fighter a chance to survive or if it will give them unnecessary damage. That said, being upset about the stoppage is one thing, but making it personal against him is just going way too far.
