Can't believe they spent 20 years building this into a credible sport (of sorts) and were going to risk it all to the point where the damn Governor of California had call on Disney to pull the plug. Endeavor must really need cash bad, but the whole affair was sad and embarrassing.
Rousey may actually be my least favorite person to have garnered fame from MMA next to Colby. I just read she actually said “fuck those ungrateful fans” in regards to WWE and wonders why know one likes her or cares for her anymore.
I never liked the way Ronda carried herself when she was fighting. I don’t follow wrestling at all but I’m seeing from MMA twitter that she was shit talking the wrestling industry, couldnt tell if it was scripted shit for a storyline or not.
She lost me a lot that Ronda v Tate TUF season, good coach, but treated Tate and her team with disrespect
Just listened to GSP's conversation with Ariel. Man I wish that guy had always done more media throughout the years. He's so refreshing to listen to because of how transparent and honest he is. Whenever he talks about being scared to fight and needing to find outlets to calm himself down before fights, it's just amazing considering how his career was damn near perfect and that he doesn't try to pretend like he was way better than everyone else. On JRE, he was even talking about how the week of the fight he would go drive around town and look at random people on the street just so he could think, "the rest of the world doesn't care if I lose". haha. I also like how he doesn't really think of fighters in terms of being the "best". Everyone has a foil, stylistic disadvantages, no one wins a match-up 100% of the time, etc.
GSP would be absolutely perfect on the submission grappling circuit and I really hope he starts doing that at some point.
It's going to be interesting how many of these matchups will be forgotten about, fall off the radar or get shuffled around. Like Jose Aldo getting the title shot. I totally forgot that was even a thing until he had to pull out of the fight. Now do we just reset and pretend it never happened?
Just watched a clip of Mayhem talking to Ariel earlier. Wow. The guy sounds like a whole new person. Apparently he spent a year in jail and then was forced to get help/therapy immediately afterwards. I’m not sure if he ever said exactly what all that entailed but I’m assuming it was a combination of getting him straightened out with medication and most likely off any drugs he was doing. Either way, that was the most coherent I’ve ever heard him.
I'm honestly fine with UFC 249, but I'm perplexed to see how they will build two other cards 3 weeks notice.
