I would have liked to have seen Yoel rely on his Olympic level wrestling, it’s really crazy that he didn’t, but he is such a freak of nature that he struck with maybe the best striker in mma for 5 rounds and almost won. He is so unique even in a boring fight I was on the edge of my seat the whole time haha

 

This has nothing to do with the scoring of the fight and is just more of a meta thing, but I guess I thought the pressure was more on Yoel to bring the fight than it was on Izzy. Izzy basically did Yoel a favor and gifted him a title shot by calling him out. The dude lost an interim fight, missed weight in the next one, lost the next title fight AND missed weight, then lost the title eliminator.

It was really on him not to squander this opportunity and I feel like he did just that. I guess that’s also why I don’t feel as inclined to blame Adesanya because he didn’t NEED that fight from the beginning.

 

So many events are getting cancelled due to the virus. Jesus

I'm now terrified we aren't going to get to see this fight.

 

If it even gets delayed this time, I'm going to lose it. It's legitimately cursed if anything happens. Although how crazy would it be to do a private bout with just the fighters, officials and corners? PPV sales would still be through the roof.

 

I feel bad saying I kinda want to see a main event happen without a crowd. I wonder how contracts work with the venue... it sucks so many people are going to lose out on work because of it but if you're making the event private why bother paying for the barclay center? and why bother paying NY taxes!? Just hold it at their Vegas Apex Center.

ESPN website now shows this weekend's card is going to be broadcast on both ESPN and + now. Early start time now as well.

 

Sucks that Garbrandt is off the card in Columbus. Hope his health improves, he’s had a rough go of it. He had such a quick fall from the top after starting about as hot as possible, I was interested to see if he could bounce back.

 

I saw that earlier. Said in his IG story he was peeing blood for a week and has something going on with his kidneys. Hope to see him as a contender again soon.
