The kid in this video went viral due to a series of videos that were posted of him being hit and bullied by numerous other kids. He’s autistic and was being pushed around at school and the videos honestly broke my heart but I cannot express how fucking awesome Justin Wren is and how incredibly giving and positive this dude is and what’s he done with his platform of being a fighter
Also, just read that Leon Edwards confirmed he was not kept in training as a stand-in for next week, and is definitely not filling for Diaz if the fight falls through. But conflicting reports seem to say the UFC never told Diaz he was flagged or that the fight was cancelled? What a clusterfuck. Makes me happy to not be a ticket holder for that event right now.
Bellator should just combine these two cards into one. They really drive me up a wall sometimes. Anyway, I'm excited to see how Davis and Ruth do tonight. Mir and Nelson haven't exactly been selling their fight and I fully expect it to be extra sloppy for however long it lasts. Think I'm leaning Lima tomorrow and that Daley/Awad fight is sneaky fun. Maia/Askren has so much potential.
I love when the cards aren't on Saturday nights. I'll usually watch the fights I don't even care about as long as I don't have to devote my whole Saturday night to it. It will be nice waking up tomorrow, making a pot of coffee and turning on UFC Singapore.
I know i'm not gonna be awake to catch Askren v Maia but I will watch a replay. Honestly forgot about the bellator cards this weekend.
I’ve gotta say, I’m genuinely surprised Nate’s power play worked on the UFC. They did exactly what he asked for lol. In regards to your question @oldjersey, I’d say if Ben gets the win here we see him take on the winner of Thompson/Luque next.
Main cards normally start at 12pm Sunday here which rules. This one starts at 11pm Saturday though which sucks!
My god the technicality in that fight. Tough loss for Ben, but he battled Maia on the ground probably better than anyone has tbh. The scrambles and reversals from each guy were insane. Feel terrible for Ben though. He’s had a rough go in the UFC and has now been beaten in a grappling match up, so I honestly don’t know where he goes from here.
Maybe, just maybe, Askren was being overrated by many all along and was actually never one of the best in the world?
Ben just doesn't look the same as he did. Re-watching his older fights, you get why he was so popular. He went from long layoff to fighting some legends so I'm not judging too harshly. We all know Maia could easily do that to anybody. The man lays down and asks people to join him haha.
Agreed. Jumping into the UFC this late into your career after a lay-off isn’t going to do anyone any favors. His competition was always hard to judge because many of them were unknown at the time, but now seeing how Lima flew through the Grand Prix in Bellator and how Koreshkov is also one of their top guys to this day makes you realize he wasn’t just fighting nobodies. Just the fact that he dominated Lima and Aoki is enough to prove that Ben had the skills to compete with the best in the world at least in one point in time.
Also agreed. It's not like he was getting his ass kicked, but he was noticeably slower. But coming off his last loss, he could've been fighting pretty hesitantly which we've seen plenty of times from fighters coming off bad KO's. Also I think Mike Johnson won his fight. Was really surprised with that decison.
Same here, the first round was close but I thought he won it fairly clearly. I honestly expected them to call it a draw after that dominant third round but was genuinely shocked that two judges scored that first round for Stevie.
